Mass Killings Are 'Purest Expression of the Conservative Mentality' in America: Daily Kos

NEWS BUSTERS 4 Hours Ago Mass Killings Are 'Purest Expression of the Conservative Mentality' in America: Daily Kos by Jack Coleman Never thought I'd see the left-wing bedwetters at MSNBC as comparatively sane. That they are compared to the denizens of the fever swamp known as the Daily Kos. Based on my previous meanderings on the site, I know that reading through its diarists' posts is among the least fruitful wastes of time imaginable. All seem to follow the same outline: conservatives as sick and/or evil and solely responsible for leftists not creating their inevitable utopia on earth. The quaintly named "Troubadour" begins the new year with a bloviation along these lines, titled "Socialism vs. Sociopathism." "An intelligent mind rails against dividing humanity into starkly-defined moral groups," he writes -- followed by him doing exactly that. "We have reached such a point in American politics, with one group wanting t...

Whether The Semi-Automatic Ban Passes May Depend On What Happens To The Senate Rules

REDSTATE 4 Hours Ago Whether The Semi-Automatic Ban Passes May Depend On What Happens To The Senate Rules by Michael Hammond By: Michael Hammond (Diary) | January 4th, 2013 at 05:48 PM | RESIZE: AAA It was reported yesterday that Vice President Joe Biden “guaranteed” to ailing Boston Mayor Tom Menino that sweeping gun control legislation would be passed by the end of January. How sweeping? A quick look at Feinstein’s semi-auto ban legislation suggests that up to 75% of all handguns currently in circulation would be banned, along with 50% of all long guns. Depending on its configuration, the AR-15 you already have would probably be treated like a machine gun. You would have to be fingerprinted, background checked by the FBI, and undergo a six-month license application process to keep it. And when you die, the government will seize it. If you don’t get an NFA license, you can expect the SWAT teams to descend on your house. But, you ask, how could such rabidly anti-gu...

In 2012, the city suffered 414 homicides, the fewest in recorded history, city officials said. Likewise, the number of shootings last year was the lowest in history, city officials said. After Thursday's shootings Mayor Michael Bloomberg called for stricter gun control measures. "In recent weeks, we've heard...

2nd Amendment And The Kool-Aid Drinkers by Paul Howe

BLOG.WILSONCOMBAT.COM 1 Day Ago 2nd Amendment And The Kool-Aid Drinkers by Paul Howe by Paul Howe On January 3rd, 2013, posted in: Paul Howe by admin I have quietly watched and evaluated the in pouring of e-mails reference the liberal’s intent to seize guns and crush the second amendment. I want to add a few of my own thoughts on this issue as I have worked in and around all the people who could be tasked to seize your guns. WHO’S COMING TO GET THEM? United Nations (UN) We are the UN. Other countries mostly join the U.N. to secure money, funding and training and few have any offensive combat capability. Most serve as guards at static locations and have no will to fight. America is the enforcement arm of the U.N. We have the money, equipment, personnel and lift platforms to get the job done. If the president ever let the U.N. in this country, it would be a foreign invasion and armed Americans would stand up and crush them in a day. Our government would break down and the ...

Democrats ready gun control legislation that would ban high-capacity magazines

THEHILL.COM 1 Day Ago Democrats ready gun control legislation that would ban high-capacity magazines by Mike Lillis Tweet House Democrats will waste no time in the new Congress pushing legislation to tighten the nation's gun laws. Reps. Carolyn McCarthy (D-N.Y.) and Diana DeGette (D-Colo.) will introduce a proposal Thursday, the first day of the 113th Congress, to ban high-capacity ammunition magazines like those used last month in the Newtown, Conn., elementary school massacre. The legislation, to be introduced after the 113th Congress is officially gaveled in Thursday afternoon, will arrive on the same day that children from Sandy Hook Elementary School returned to classes for the first time since a lone gunman stormed into the school and shot 27 people. They are attending school at a different location. Twenty-six of the victims died, including 20 six- and seven-year-old students. The shooter, a 20-year-old who reportedly had a history of mental illness, fatally shot...

Ed Rendell: Listen, wusses, it's time for new gun laws

PHILLY.COM 5 Hours Ago Ed Rendell: Listen, wusses, it's time for new gun laws by Edward G. Rendell Ed Rendell, SportsWeek Contributor Posted: Friday, January 4, 2013, 3:01 AM THE DEATH of 20 little children and six courageous adults at Newtown, Conn., has managed to do what no other killing spree could - it has caused heretofore wuss politicians to take a stand and speak out about the need for sensible laws controlling the access to assault weapons and mega-capacity ammunition clips, and it has galvanized national public opinion in support of these efforts. It didn't happen after Tucson, where we saw the heartbreaking tragedy of the 9-year-old girl killed because she wanted to meet her role model, U.S. Rep. Gabby Giffords, or after Aurora, when a crazed gunman assassinated 12 people and wounded 58 more, shockingly using a 100-bullet clip to create this carnage. Perhaps it was because there were so many young children killed and the horrific way they were executed (on...

White House Plans To Overwhelm NRA With Rapid Victory

TPMDC 53 Minutes Ago White House Plans To Overwhelm NRA With Rapid Victory by Benjy Sarlin Benjy Sarlin January 4, 2013, 4:04 PM The White House and gun control supporters are gearing up for an a whirlwind month, with plans to pass reform legislation before outrage over the Sandy Hook massacre has a chance to fade. While the fiscal cliff has dominated Washington’s attention in recent weeks, lawmakers and activists are laying the groundwork for their big push. Vice President Joe Biden, tasked with heading a commission to investigate gun violence, has been quietly meeting with experts, interest groups, and public officials and is expected to release a set of recommendations within weeks. Boston mayor Thomas Menino, co-chair of Michael Bloomberg’s Mayors Against Illegal Guns, told the Boston Herald this week that an optimistic Biden had assured him that Obama would sign legislation “by the end of January.” “We had been led to believe their report would come by end of January, but...

The Cost of Obama's Hawaiian Vacations,,, $20 MILLION

WESTWINGREPORTS.COM 5 Hours Ago The Cost of Obama's Hawaiian Vacation by Keith Koffler ByKeith Koffler/White House Dossier Michelle Obama recently revealed that she and President Obama don’t give Christmas gifts to each other. They merely say, “We’re in Hawaii,” and that’s Christmas gift enough. But actually the present is from taxpayers, and it’s an expensive one. The total cost to taxpayers of Obama’s vacations to Hawaii since becoming president is likely in excess of $20 million, and possibly much, much more. During a time of budget deficits that threaten the nation’s security and its future, the Obamas have chosen to maintain a “family tradition” and vacation halfway around the world instead of finding far cheaper alternatives closer to home. The $20 million figure is based on estimates of the cost of the four Hawaii vacations the Obamas have taken during Christmastime 2009-2012. According to a detailed breakdown by the Hawaii Reporter, the annual excursions in 200...

Vanity Fair: The 2nd Amendment "Must Be Removed from the Constitution"

BREITBART.COM 3 Hours Ago Vanity Fair: The 2nd Amendment "Must Be Removed from the Constitution" by AWR Hawkins 4 Jan 2013, 10:18 AM PDT post a comment Eichenwald's approach consists of attacking the NRA, arguing that gun owners avoid discussing more gun control by saying they don't want to "politicize" shootings, and taking the standard progressive position that there wasn't really a right to keep and bear arms until Justice Antonin Scalia created one in recent Supreme Court decisions. One of his criticisms of the NRA is that they opposed forcing "states to submit mental-health records to FBI databases" following the Virginia Tech shooting. While this seems to have little, if anything, to do with the 2nd Amendment, Eichenwald said the submission of such records was "reasonable" and berated the NRA for pressing legislators to soften the requirement. Missing here is the fact that the NRA was not trying to find ways to put guns...

Ten gun bills on Congress's first day - The Hill's Floor Action

THEHILL.COM 7 Hours Ago Ten gun bills on Congress's first day - The Hill's Floor Action by Pete Kasperowicz By Pete Kasperowicz - 01/04/13 09:44 AM ET Tweet Members of the 113th Congress introduced 10 bills on Thursday relating to gun violence, most of which came from Democrats seeking new restrictions on gun ownership. The flurry of legislative proposals show that members are likely to push the issue in the wake of the December shooting at a Connecticut elementary school that left 20 children dead. Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-N.Y.), whose husband was shot to death in 1993, introduced four of the bills. The congresswoman has vowed to seek changes in federal law in response to the school shooting. H.R. 137 and 138 from McCarthy would require people prohibited from buying firearms to be listed in a national database, and would prohibit the transfer or possession of large capacity ammunition clips. McCarthy's H.R. 141 would require criminal background checks on all f...

Ex-Burglars Say Newspaper’s Gun Map Would’ve Made the Job Easier, Safer

FOX NEWS 6 Hours Ago Ex-Burglars Say Newspaper’s Gun Map Would’ve Made the Job Easier, Safer by Jana Winter Reformed crooks say the New York newspaper that published a map of names and addresses of gun owners did a great service – to their old cronies in the burglary trade. The information published online by the Journal-News, a daily paper serving the New York suburbs of Westchester, Rockland and Putnam counties, could be highly useful to thieves in two ways, former burglars told FoxNews.com. Crooks looking to avoid getting shot now know which targets are soft and those who need weapons know where they can steal them. "Having a list of who has a gun is like gold - why rob that house when you can hit the one next door, where there are no guns?” - Walter T. Shaw, former burglar and jewel thief “That was the most asinine article I’ve ever seen,” said Walter T. Shaw, 65, a former burglar and jewel thief who the FBI blames for more than 3,000 break-ins that netted some $70...

WHAT?? CA Gun Sales Skyrocket, Gun Injuries Plummet

BREITBART.COM 2 Hours Ago CA Gun Sales Skyrocket, Gun Injuries Plummet by Ben Shapiro by Ben Shapiro 4 Jan 2013, 11:47 AM PDT post a comment In 2002, 350,000 guns were sold in the state of California. By 2011, that number was 600,000. Last year, it jumped to 817,000, a single year increase of 36 percent. Did crime go up? Precisely the opposite. Since 2002, hospital visits due to injuries from gun wounds plummeted 28 percent. Gun deaths decreased 15 percent. But that doesn’t stop California’s sanctimonious liberals from pushing more gun control. “When I see that the sales go up, I don’t like that,” complained LAPD Chief Charlie Beck. “My officers have to face these guns on the street.” There is no evidence of that. The LAPD is facing less guns even as more guns are stolen. And the guns the LAPD does face are disproportionately acquired illegally. Even Beck admits that “guns that are excess and become unwanted in a home” are sold illegally, and that “those are the kind of gun...

Pravda tells America: Keep your guns

WND.COM 6 Hours Ago Pravda tells America: Keep your guns by DJ Dolce Americans are getting a bit of advice from a columnist in Pravda, long considered the voice in front of the massive power of the Soviet Union: Keep your guns. “This will probably come as a total shock to most of my Western readers, but at one point, Russia was one of the most heavily armed societies on earth,” wrote columnist Stanislav Mishin in his recent column. “This was, of course, when we were free under the Tsar. Weapons, from swords and spears to pistols, rifles and shotguns were everywhere, common items. People carried them concealed, they carried them holstered. Fighting knives were a prominent part of many traditional attires and those little tubes criss crossing on the costumes of Cossacks and various Caucasian peoples? Well, those are bullet holders for rifles.” However, the Communists [Reds] weren’t stupid, he wrote, and when they took power, “One of the first things they did was to disarm the ...

Foreign Media Lectures Americans on Gun Rights

INFOWARS.COM 4 Hours Ago Foreign Media Lectures Americans on Gun Rights Russian, Chinese, British, Australian talking heads attack second amendment Paul Joseph Watson & Alex Jones Infowars.com January 4, 2013 In the three weeks since the Sandy Hook school shooting, Americans have been browbeaten by a plethora of foreigners in the media keen to lecture them on how their constitutional right to keep and bear arms should be eviscerated. It started with British CNN host Piers Morgan, who seized upon the tragedy within hours to push his fanatical anti-second amendment agenda, calling for a British-style total gun ban. This eventually led to a White House petition calling for Morgan to be deported which went viral and has thus far attracted over 100,000 signatures. As USA Today highlights, the Morgan controversy served to enflame a global gun control debate with foreign media personalities around the world lecturing Americans on what rights they should be able to exercise. ...

Connecticut Lawmaker Introduces Bill to Publish Names, Addresses of Gun Permit Holders

BREITBART.COM 2 Hours Ago Connecticut Lawmaker Introduces Bill to Publish Names, Addresses of Gun Permit Holders by Susan Berry by Dr. Susan Berry 4 Jan 2013, 10:49 AM PDT post a comment Dargan’s bill is in response to the Dec. 14th shootings in the Sandy Hook School in Newtown, CT, and also occurs as a Westchester County, NY newspaper, the Journal News, is drawing widespread, nationwide anger for publishing a map with the names and addresses of gun permit holders. The bill, if passed, would reverse the state legislature’s decision, made nearly two decades ago, to protect gun permit holders' personal information from disclosure. Connecticut’s General Assembly will return to Hartford next week, when a five-month session will begin, one in which gun control is expected to be a dominant issue. The state has some of the toughest gun control laws in the country, yet is one of the most lenient toward serious crimes, having just repealed the death penalty last spring, and having p...
