Both chambers in the state house voted to override Gov.. Robert Bentley's veto on a local bill that would allow armed teachers in Franklin County schools. The bill will now become law without the governor's signature.  It will allow teachers and other school employees to carry a gun at school – so long as they are properly trained as police officers or sheriff's deputies.  Rep. Johnny Mack Morrow (D-Colbert, Franklin) has been a vocal advocate of the bill, saying schools in Franklin County cannot always afford to hire school resource officers.  He added that the schools – being in rural areas – need to have armed school employees on-hand right away if they need protection in an emergency situation. Tuesday, May 21st Devastation In Oklahoma Our thoughts and prayers are with those who lost loved ones and property in Oklahoma over the last few days. Yesterday, a presumed EF-4 tornado hit Moore, Oklahoma. Its wind speeds were up to 200 mph, at some points it was up to 2 miles wide and the path stretched for about 20 miles. It is an unbelievable storm which has now claimed the lives of at least 24 people, nine of whom are children. The stories of children at the Plaza Towers elementary school being pulled out of the rubble, some not making it out alive or missing, are beyond heartbreaking. You can help those a
