Calif. is first state to ban lead ammo for hunting

SFGATE.COM 3 Hours Ago Calif. is first state to ban lead ammo for hunting by  Laura Olson SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — California has become the first state to ban lead bullets for all types of hunting after Gov.  Jerry Brown  signed legislation Friday over objections from firearms and sporting groups. The Democratic governor said in a signing message that lead ammunition poses a threat to wildlife, noting that the state has prohibited it in eight counties within the California condors' range since 1997. Proponents of the bill said the ban will protect condors and other wildlife that feed on gut piles left behind by hunters. "I am concerned, however, the impression left from this bill is that hunters and sportsmen and women in California are not conservationists," Brown wrote. "I know that is not the case. Hunters and anglers are the original conservationists." He says the final version of the legislation protects hunters by allowing the ban to be lifted if the fe...

The Obama-Reid Gamble

GINGRICHPRODUCTIONS.COM 3 Hours Ago The Obama-Reid Gamble Gingrich Productions  October 11, 2013 Newt Gingrich To receive Newt's weekly newsletter,  click here . The dance we are watching this weekend is a very important moment in modern American history with big implications for how the executive and the legislative branches interact in the future. The House Republicans have staked out a position that they can use their constitutional power of the purse to force the President to negotiate over key issues. President Obama and Senate Democratic Leader Reid believe they can break the House Republicans and force them to reopen the government and pass a debt ceiling hike with no negotiations and no conditions. Senate Republicans are split between a majority who want any deal that will end the pain and a militant minority who accept the conflict and pain as the price of forcing very large changes. Obscured to some extent by the focus on the partial government shutdown an...

Creeping Towards A Deal

Friday, October 11th Creeping Towards A Deal There has been movement in Washington, but a deal has yet to be reached. Yesterday Obama met with a handful of House Republicans in a discussion that has been described by some as "constructive," "useful" and "productive." A new NBC poll finds that a majority of Americans believe Obama is putting his own political agenda ahead of what's good for the country. I would agree. Obama doesn't seem to be standing on principle so much as seems to be for hurting Republicans politically and imposing his terrible healthcare on a nation that doesn...

‘Truckers for the Constitution’ Deliver Their List of Demands

THEBLAZE.COM 2 Hours Ago 'Truckers for the Constitution' Deliver Their List of Demands "Truckers for the Constitution"  organizer Zeeda Andrews on Friday circulated a list of demands that will supposedly be delivered to Texas Congressman Louie Gohmert. Via @FBillMcMorris Among them are suggestions that "Barry Soetoro, aka Barack Obama," is a fake president because "his documents" are "forgeries." From the document: From 2003 to 2008, several members of Congress introduced legislation, attempting to change Article 2, Section 1, Clause 5 of the Constitution on eight separate occasions to make it possible for Barack Obama to meet the eligibility requirements for the office of president. Of which, a legal investigation has proven that his documents provided are forgeries, which is a felony offense. The document goes on to state that the president, "with the help of corrupt politicians, and individuals in authoritative positions" is...
