NIQAB-WEARING ASSAILANT REPORTEDLY ATTACKS VICTORIA’S SECRET EMPLOYEE WITH ACID…IN LONDON Feb. 2, 2013 4:55pm Erica Ritz (Photos via the U.K. Daily Mail) The world is horrified every time the victim of an “acid attack” speaks out, stunned that anyone could be so full of rage that they’d leave a family member or complete stranger incapacitated and disfigured for the rest of their lives. Though they have been reported from South America to Russia, acid attacks have been at an all time high in Pakistan for the past several years, most often as a form of revenge or punishment for so-called immodest behavior. Now, it seems a young woman working for Victoria’s Secret in London has become the most recent victim. According to British media, 20-year-old Naomi Oni was ambushed on December 30 while walking home from work, but has just been released from the hospital after roughly a month of surgery and skin grafts. The London Evening Standard relates: The store assistant had just got

Capt. Kelly, NRA CEO LaPierre show little common ground in possible guncontrol compromise

FOX NEWS 29 Minutes Ago Capt. Kelly, NRA CEO LaPierre show little common ground in possible gun control compromise Two of the country’s most influential voices on gun control weighed in Sunday on the issue, but appeared no closer in reaching a compromise -- even on the issue of universal background checks. Wayne LaPierre, the National Rifle Association’s chief executive, told “Fox News Sunday” his group has tried unsuccessfully for such a check for two decades “I’ve been in this fight for 20 years. We proposed it. I don’t think it’s going to happen,” said LaPierre, who argued the mental health lobby and federal laws have prevented the names of people with potentially dangerous mental health problems from being put into a federal database. Retired Navy Capt. Mark Kelly, whose wife former Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords was shot in the head by an emotionally disturbed gunman, argued for the background check. He told Fox that Giffords, a Democrat, and others might have been spare

Joe Soucheray: Twin Cities don't need Obama's gun speech. Chicago does

TWINCITIES.COM 14 Hours Ago Joe Soucheray: Twin Cities don't need Obama's gun speech. Chicago does. by Paul Winter Carnival President Barack Obama is coming to Minneapolis on Monday, Feb. 4, to advance his proposals to reduce gun violence, which is a little bit like taking a boat out into the middle of the ocean to discuss the risk of fire in Joshua Tree National Park. Why doesn't he go to Chicago, where there is gun violence? And then, once in Chicago, why wouldn't he discuss that city's problem of gang violence? In fact, so long as he has the itch to take his bully pulpit on the road, Chicago is the natural, ultimate stop. Why, it is ground zero. Just last week, Hadiya Pendleton, a 15-year-old girl who had performed with the King College Prep Band at Obama's inaugural festivities, was shot and killed as she sought shelter from the rain in a park about a mile from Obama's Chicago residence. About three blocks from her school, Pendleton and a gr

'My church is safe because we have the right people carrying guns

WND.COM 14 Hours Ago 'My church is safe because we have the right people carrying guns' by Michael F. Haverluck Text smaller Text bigger By Michael F. Haverluck As Democrats press for unprecedented curbs on the right to bear arms, a Colorado Springs, Colo., pastor is recalling a high-profile incident in which a member of his church who was carrying a gun saved dozens of lives. In an exclusive WND interview, Pastor Brady Boyd of New Life Church drew lessons from the December 2007 attack after a Sunday morning service that killed two people and injured three. Boyd said the armed church member prevented a massacre. “It did deter it,” he said. “One of our voluntary security church members had a firearm and saved at least 50 people. My family had just left the building and I was still in the building when it occurred.” Boyd was speaking about Jeanne Assam, a former sworn Minneapolis police officer who was acting as security that day. She wounded the 24-year-old gunm

Superbowl anti-gun ad, hope it backfires on them

PAT DOLLARD YOUNG AMERICANS 11 Hours Ago Bloomberg to Air Gun Control Ad During Superbowl Feb 2, 2013Toro520 Via The Associated Press: NEW YORK (Associated Press) – A gun control group founded by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is airing a Super Bowl advertisement calling for background checks. The 30-second spot by Mayors Against Illegal Guns will air in the Washington area during the game between the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers. The ad calls on lawmakers to pass rules requiring background checks on guns. It is narrated by children, with “America the Beautiful” playing in the background. It includes decades-old footage of National Rifle Association Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre saying the gun lobby group approves of the checks. LaPierre recently testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee that the NRA no longer supports background checks for all gun sales. A Bloomsberg spokesman would say only that the ad cost in the six-figure range.

Sen. Graham: I Have an AR-15 at Home, I Haven't Hurt Anybody

BREITBART.COM 3 Hours Ago Sen. Graham: I Have an AR-15 at Home, I Haven't Hurt Anybody by AWR Hawkins3 Feb 2013, 3:13 AM PDTpost a comment He said this after explaining that he supports private ownership of magazines that hold more than 10 rounds: making it clear that a mother at home with her children might need far more than the 5 or 6 bullets a revolver holds to defend herself and her family. Graham was referencing Melinda Herman, the Loganville, GA mother who slid into a crawl space with her children to escape a burglar--a burglar she shot repeatedly with a .38 Special revolver but could not kill. Said Graham: "My basic premise is one bullet in the hand of a mentally unstable person or a convicted felon is one too many. Six bullets in the hands of a mother protecting her twin 9-year olds may not be enough." After this, Graham turned his attention to the AR-15. He did this by recalling the L.A. riots in 1992 to show how Americans have to take precautions--to
