BREAKING: Armed Robber in SC Tells Woman, “You’re Dead!” Then Runs Off When She Pulls a Gun

GUNSSAVELIVES.NET 1 Day Ago BREAKING: Armed Robber in SC Tells Woman, “You’re Dead!” Then Runs Off When She Pulls a Gun A woman in Myrtle Beach, SC is glad she kept a gun in her car this morning when a man tried to rob her. The suspect demanded money from the woman as he opened the door to her car. The woman kicked at the man, and that’s when he told her, “You’re dead!” The woman was able to grab a gun from her glove box, point it at the suspect, and that’s when he ran away. Who knows how this story could have turned out if the woman wasn’t armed. This is another example of a defensive gun use where no shots were fired and no one was hurt. Because of that, this incident will not be included in most studies on defensive homicides or self defense shootings. A gun can stop crime without a shot ever being fired. Taking aim at the gun industry

LOS ANGELES TIMES 18 Hours Ago Taking aim at the gun industry by Michael Hiltzik We've all heard the saw about California being hostile to industry. Here's an industry that indisputably has grounds for complaint: the gun industry. Finally, the Legislature is getting something right. According to many experts, California's firearms regulations are the toughest in the nation. (New York's recently enacted rules may be tougher, but they're still being rolled out.) California may soon get even tougher: a slate of proposals outlined this month by legislative leaders in Sacramento would add new regulations and close a few loopholes in the old. "There's a lot for folks here to be proud of," Ben Van Houten, managing attorney at the San Francisco-based Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence, told me. "But there's still a lot of work to do. Federal law is astonishingly weak, so it's incumbent on the states to do as much as they can." Tak

Question of the Day: Can Obama Escape from the Fact that Chicago Gun Control Doesn't Work?

THETRUTHABOUTGUNS.COM 8 Hours Ago Question of the Day: Can Obama Escape from the Fact that Chicago Gun Control Doesn't Work? by Robert Farago Posted onFebruary 16, 2013byRobert Farago Later today, President Obama will return to Chicago to promote his civilian disarmament agenda. It’s a pretty stupid move, politically. Chicago has some of the most unconstitutional gun laws in America (a.k.a., “strictest”). And yet it’s running a murder rate of around 500 souls per year. While the President is to spin doctoring what Petra Silander is to lingerie, I reckon the Commander-in-Chief is naked on this one. Sure he can and will wave the bloody shirt. And yes he will argue that Chicago needs MORE gun control to stop the killings. But any fool can see that gang bangers with illegal handguns are what it’s all about; not “assault weapons” or “universal background checks.” Obama’s Boyz will find an echo chamber, but his rhetoric may prove to be emptier than they imagine. Your prediction?

State Legislators Seek To Nullify Any New Federal Gun Laws

LIBERTYCRIER.COM 15 Hours Ago State Legislators Seek To Nullify Any New Federal Gun Laws by Richard Simon Even before Congress takes up any new gun laws, some state legislators are pushing bills to block enforcement. WASHINGTON — In Alaska, state House Speaker Mike Chenault says he’s heard complaints from all over the state about the federal government “trampling” on gun owners’ 2nd Amendment rights. In Pennsylvania, state Rep. Daryl Metcalfe declares that gun control advocates have “gone far enough.” And in North Dakota, state Rep. Roscoe Streyle says, “We know what’s right for our citizens.” They are among a wave of lawmakers in at least 20 states who are pushing back against the Obama administration’s drive to pass tougher gun laws after the Newtown, Conn., school shooting. They seek to exempt their states from any new federal regulations. Even before Congress votes on new gun laws, some state legislators are intent on promoting bills like the Firearms Freedom Act — int

Obama tried to tie his economic policy to reducing gun violence:

PJMEDIA.COM 2 Hours Ago Obama Has No Answers for Skyrocketing Murder Rate in Chicago by Rick Moran President Obama was in Chicago on Friday to talk about gun violence and push his domestic agenda. He was introduced at Hyde Park Academy, a high school about a mile from his home, by Chicago’s Mayor Rahm Emanuel, who has seen his city’s murder rate climb to heights not experienced in a generation. More than 500 people were murdered in Chicago in 2012. Desperate to avoid blame for his policing policies that some experts believe have contributed to the killings, Emanuel has taken up the president’s call for more gun control with the fervor of a true believer. His extortionate tactics in trying to get banks to stop lending to gun makers unless they support “common sense” gun control is only the most recent of his efforts to shift blame from his own shoulders and place it squarely on those who buy, sell, and manufacture firearms. But the president’s speech, where even he admitted “no

Dr. Cornel West, white liberals push for gun control because of ‘racism’

THEBLACKSPHERE.NET 6 Hours Ago Dr. Cornel West, white liberals push for gun control because of ‘racism’ by Tami Jackson By Torrance Stephens (RollingOut.com) While many African Americans take issue with one of the most brilliant and self-assured minds of our time, Princeton University scholar and professor Cornel West, especially for his incessant criticism of President Barack Obama policies, what many fail to see is that often he is correct. He was correct on the plight of African Americans going steadily downhill from an economic perspective since the reign of the POTUS and he was correct regarding his policies serving the interest of plutocrats from big banks, corporations and Wall Street. Now he may be right again. In a recent interview, Dr. West stated: “Not a peep; not a mumblin’ word when the black folk getting shot. But now Newtown, vanilla side, low and behold we got a major conversation.” He continued by asserting that Democrats and liberals always want to point

Obama: Chicago Has Its Own Newtown Every Four Months

BREITBART.COM 2 Hours Ago Obama: Chicago Has Its Own Newtown Every Four Months by AWR Hawkins16 Feb 2013, 12:44 PM PDTpost a comment As a cure for this, Obama declared America needs more gun control and more fathers. While Obama's first point rings hollow, given the strict gun laws Chicago already enforces, the President's call for social change strikes a chord: There are entire neighborhoods where young people...don't see an example of somebody succeeding. And for a lot of young boys and young men, in particular, they don't see an example of fathers or grandfathers, uncles, who are in a position to support families and be held up and respected. And this means this is not just a gun issue. It's also an issue of the kinds of communities we are building. This is the real issue that must be addressed in the debate on violence. Guns have been available for centuries; it is the misuse of guns that has increased and lately become problematic. And that misuse i

Colorado Passes Four Bold Gun Control Measures

HUFFINGTON POST 6 Hours Ago Colorado Passes Four Bold Gun Control Measures by Ivan Moreno DENVER -- A package of gun control measures won initial approval in Colorado's Democratic-controlled House Friday night, with Vice President Joe Biden personally phoning four lawmakers from his ski vacation in the state to speed along the emotional debate. Biden phoned three freshmen legislators along with Democratic House Speaker Mark Ferrandino. The calls came amid a long debate over the proposals, including expanded background checks and ammunition limits – responses to mass shootings, including the killings at a Colorado movie theater. In all, the House gave the initial OK to four bills after a daylong debate. The preliminary votes set up final actions on the measures Monday. The Democratic gun-control package that advanced also includes banning concealed weapons on public college campuses, and requiring that gun buyers pay for their background checks. One of the freshmen Biden
