Not a Peep from Obama: Violent Crime Reaches 42-Year Low

PATRIOTUPDATE.COM 40 Minutes Ago Not a Peep from Obama: Violent Crime Reaches 42-Year Low Last week, the FBI released its national crime report for 2012. By a slight margin, the nation's violent crime rate decreased in 2012–relative to 2011–making it the lowest it has been since 1970.Compared to 1991, when it hit an all-time high, violent crime is down by 49 percent. The nation's murder rate was unchanged in 2012; still lower than any time since 1963 and at nearly an all-time low. Between 2011 and 2012, 24 states and the District of Columbia experienced decreases in their murder rates. There was no correlation of these trends with the severity of the states' or the District's gun control laws. Troubled Detroit, under Michigan's law requiring a permit to purchase a handgun, had the highest murder rate among large cities, followed by Baltimore, under Maryland's law imposing a seven-day waiting period on handgun purchases. But there was no relationship between oth

US Supreme Court to review existing gun ban for domestic abusers

RT.COM 38 Minutes Ago US Supreme Court to review existing gun ban for domestic abusers Published time: October 02, 2013 22:47 Get short URL The US Supreme Court in Washington, DC. (AFP Photo / Mandel Ngan) Tags Arms ,  Court ,  Crime ,  Law ,  Politics ,  Security ,  USA The US Supreme Court has agreed to hear a case on whether a conviction for domestic violence precludes Americans from obtaining a firearms license. The Obama administration has argued that ending the prohibition would invalidate bans in much of the US. The Justices announced Tuesday they would hear eight cases of the more than 2,000 appeals that accumulated over the summer. Among them is an argument from James Alvin Castleman, who maintains that his misdemeanor domestic assault conviction in Tennessee does not prevent him from legally owning a gun. Castleman pleaded guilty to a single misdemeanor assault charge in 2001. Federal law forbids the purchase, possession, or transportation of guns and ammunition by people co

BUSTED! SEIU Organizes Fake Protesters At WWII Memorial

THEGATEWAYPUNDIT.COM 3 Hours Ago BUSTED! SEIU Organizes Fake Protesters At WWII Memorial by  Andrew Marcus Busted!  According to PJ Media's Patrick Poole , the SEIU astro-turfed approximately 20 protesters to harass veterans at the WWII memorial today.  One of the fake "federal employees" still had on his McDonalds uniform and admitted to receiving $15 to protest. After about an hour, about 20 SEIU protesters arrived on the scene chanting "Boehner, get us back to work" and claiming they were federal employees furloughed because of the shutdown. Then, remarkably, a guy carrying a sign passed by wearing a McDonald's employee shirt, which I noted. I then began asking them how much they had been paid to protest, at which point the guy wearing the McDonald's shirt came back and admitted he had been paid $15 to attend the protest. Note how NONE of the so called federal employees could produce a federal ID. h/t Comrade J View Original Webpage BUSTED! SEIU Orga

Heritage Action for America

HERITAGEACTION.COM 3 Hours Ago Heritage Action for America Harry Reid thinks you're an extremist. "They need to accept what we just passed. To be absolutely clear, we are going to accept nothing as it relates to Obamacare." He refuses to cooperate and is falsely shifting the blame, saying, "We are not going to bow to tea party anarchists who deny the mere fact that Obamacare is the law." Harry Reid dismisses conservatives and the House of Representatives as "anarchists."  Who's the extremist? The truth is Harry Reid will stop at nothing to save Obamacare. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid shut down the government to save Obamacare. Harry Reid won't listen to the Americans that are being harmed by the unaffordable and unworkable healthcare law. He will not compromise, even to save our economy from Obamacare. Reid won't do his job and is blaming you. He thinks that if you're upset that Obamacare is hurting your family and your job, you m

Obamacare can be defunded without Senate approval

GOPTHEDAILYDOSE.COM 3 Hours Ago Obamacare can be defunded without Senate approval by  Christopher Collins via examiner By Christopher Collins When the House passed legislation to defund ObamaCare but would keep the government running through mid-December, the Senate, led by Senate Majority Leader, Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) stated that they would not budge on Obamacare and the legislation was defeated. On Monday, Dr. Harold Pease, an expert on the United States Constitution, stated that the authority in dealing with Obamacare funding belongs to the U.S. House, not the U.S. Senate and that the House is doing this all wrong. Pease said, "Everything hinged upon funding which was given exclusively to the House of Representatives, the only power that they alone had." Pease went on to say, "All bills for raising revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with Amendments as on other Bills. To fund anything, in this case Obamaca

Obama Admin Closed Parks to WWII Veterans, but kept Open for Illegal Occupy Movement Camp

NATURALRESOURCES.HOUSE.GOV 3 Hours Ago Obama Admin Closed Parks to WWII Veterans, but kept Open for Illegal Occupy Movement Camp WASHINGTON, D.C., October 2, 2013  - In an attempt to make the government shutdown as painful as possible, the Obama Administration yesterday chose to erect metal barricades around the World War II Memorial (an open air memorial that is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week) and stationed armed National Park Police to block World War II veterans from entering their memorial. It's ironic that while our Nation's heroes are met by barricades, exactly two years ago back in 2011 the Obama Administration let members of the Occupy Movement camp at McPherson Square (also controlled by the National Park Service) for MONTHS before evicting them.  Thousands of dollars in damage  were caused by the participants who were illegally camping in McPherson Square. Under the Obama Administration, the National Park Service chose to erect barricades to open-air memorials wh

Shutdown shenanigans: Park closed despite receiving no federal funding

WESTERN JOURNALISM 2 Hours Ago Shutdown shenanigans: Park closed despite receiving no federal funding While stories abound regarding the arbitrary closures associated with the current federal government shutdown, at least the monuments, parks, and services interrupted receive some level of funding from D.C. The closure of Claude Moore Colonial Farm, however, noticeably defies that standard. The park's managing director, Anna Eberly, reported that she got notice from the National Parks Service that all  visitors and staff  must vacate the destination. This decision came despite the fact that the historic farm receives no federal funding. Eberly pointed out the glaring idiocy of this decision, blasting the government for using "staff they don't have the money to pay to evict visitors from a park site that operates without costing them money." She noted that this will mark the first time in 40 years the farm will not be open to the public. In a response to the unbelieva

Monuments and memorials remained open during previous shutdown Via @dailycaller

DAILYCALLER.COM 2 Hours Ago Monuments and memorials remained open during previous shutdown Via @dailycaller by  Charles C. Johnson Tweet Although President Obama claims that he can't avoid shutting down public sites and monuments, war memorials were in fact kept open during the 1995/1996 government shutdowns. The administration's decision to barricade the Lincoln Memorial marks the first time in its history the memorial has been blocked off in this way during a shutdown. The administration has also balked at efforts by non-governmental groups to maintain access to public sites.  (Related:  RNC offers to pay to keep WWII memorial open ) But during the Clinton-era shutdown, World War II veterans kept the Pearl Harbor memorial open. "Despite the federal government shutdown and an unrepaired sign that reads 'Arizona Memorial closed,' tourists are still getting expert commentary about the World War II memorial at Pearl Harbor,"  wrote the Associated Press on Janua
