Celebrating Memorial Day

NRAILA.ORG 3 Days Ago Celebrating Memorial Day This weekend, our country will celebrate Memorial Day.  We'll cook out, relax, and visit with friends and family.  But this holiday weekend is about more than barbeques, swimming pools, and family get-togethers.  As we celebrate the Memorial Day weekend, let us keep in mind what we are "celebrating" -- those who made the ultimate sacrifice to ensure that Americans, and people around the world, would be able to reap the benefits of freedom.  We should remember, too, the one freedom that protects all our other freedoms -- the Second Amendment.  Those who fought and died on the battlefield did so to protect our country, our way of life, and our freedom.  It is now our calling, and our responsibility, to ensure that future generations never fail to realize how blessed we are to live in the United States, a country whose Constitution guarantees its citizens' freedom, including our Right to Keep and Bear Arms. ...

Palin: Obama Scandals Trample On Sacrifices of America's Soldiers

BREITBART.COM 4 Hours Ago Palin: Obama Scandals Trample On Sacrifices of America's Soldiers by  Tony Lee by  Tony Lee 27 May 2013, 12:35 PM PDT post a comment "'Thank you' cannot do justice to the gratitude we feel for our nation's finest," she  wrote  in a post on Facebook. "They deserve better than to have their sacrifice trampled on by people who pretend to have heard nothing, seen nothing, and therefore can say nothing about abusing their power over We the People. Americans deserve better. Certainly our military veterans' honor deserves better." Palin said she was especially mindful this year--"more than ones prior"--of "those who have served and those who gave their all." She said, "enough is enough," and that it was "time to halt the fundamental transformation of the country our soldiers have given all to preserve." "Our military men and women risk their lives to uphold our rights." "C...

Cowardly Colorado Governor Hickenlooper Commutes Death Sentence Until End of Term

REDSTATE 3 Hours Ago Cowardly Colorado Governor Hickenlooper Commutes Death Sentence Until End of Term by  Ben Howe By: Ben Howe  ( Diary )  | May 27th, 2013 at 04:42 PM |  RESIZE: AAA "Obviously this has weighed heavily on me for over a year now and it was obvious that inaction wasn't an option" In Colorado, the fate of convicted murderer Nathan Dunlap has been an issue of great debate. This past week, the governor of Colorado, John Hickenlooper, made what has to be one of the most cowardly decisions ever seen in politics by putting a man's life and the expectations of his victims on hold just long enough to take the decision out of his hands. In 1993, Nathan Dunalap waltzed into a Chuck E. Cheese in Aurora, Colorado which he had previously worked at, and shot 4 employees to death, wounding a fifth. Some of the victims were as young as 17. Dunlap was 19 at the time. As is traditionally the situation in death penalty cases, there were those looking to stop the ...

Let Us Not Forget

Monday, May 27th We originally ran this story on Friday, but have had several requests that we re-send today to honor the men and women who've died while serving our country. The word "hero" seems to have lost its significance these days. Today, a gay basketball player (Jason Collins) and a young woman who publicly demands Hunter free birth control (Sandra Fluke) are touted by the media and President Obama alike as courageous and heroic. According to a White House official, President Obama called Jason Collins after he announced he was gay to "express his support and [say] he was impressed by his ...

So it must have looked like an odd contrast in American values when the town of Beverly, Massachusetts then  canceled its parade for Memorial Day  23 days later, a tradition for more than 100 years. Thousands turned out for the pop star, but few turn out for the heroic fallen:      BEVERLY, Mass. (AP) — Veterans in suburban Boston gathered in a park to mark Memorial Day this year rather than hold a parade because of failing health and dwindling numbers. Th...
