GAWKER 3 Hours Ago Texas Lawmaker Wants to Lock Up Federal Officials Who Enforce Gun Control Measures Enacted by 'King Obama' Neetzan Zimmerman A Texas state legislator announced today that he has filed a bill aimed at preventing any new federal gun laws from being enforced in his state. Republican Rep. Steve Toth's "Firearms Protection Act" would render illegal any bans or restrictions on weapons and ammunition that would be passed by Congress or enacted by the President. Furthermore, the bill would criminalize the enforcement of any such gun control measures. "If a federal official comes into the state of Texas to enforce the federal executive order, that person is subject to criminal prosecution," Toth told a local radio station. A federal official found guilty of enforcing gun control would be subject to a $50,000 fine and up to five years behind bars. The bill, which resembles legislation introduced by lawmakers in Wyoming last week,

Statement from the National Rifle Association of America Regarding the Passage of S. 2230 in New York

NRAILA.ORG 45 Minutes Ago Statement from the National Rifle Association of America Regarding the Passage of S. 2230 in New York by Weston Gun Ban Issues The National Rifle Association and our New York members are outraged at the draconian gun control bill that was rushed through the process late Monday evening, and we will be considering all possible legal challenges in the near future. Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature orchestrated a secretive end-run around the legislative and democratic process and passed sweeping anti-gun measures with no committee hearings and no public input. Hammered out in a backroom in Albany, S. 2230 was quickly drafted and released 20 minutes prior to the Senate vote. It passed as the clock ticked toward midnight. This legislation lowers New York's arbitrary magazine capacity limit from ten rounds to seven. It also greatly expands the state's existing ban on commonly owned semi-automatic firearms, and will require New

This is the fight of the century and I need you on board with NRA now more than ever," Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre wrote. "My strength, and the strength of our entire NRA organization comes from you and your strong commitment to our membership. I need you in our corner TODAY." A spokesman for the organization told CNN that more than 250,000 people had signed up for NRA memberships in

Advocacy, Not Journalism: 13 CNN Guests Want More Gun Control, Only 2 Argue to the Contrary

NEWS BUSTERS 5 Hours Ago Advocacy, Not Journalism: 13 CNN Guests Want More Gun Control, Only 2 Argue to the Contrary by Matt Hadro Commemorating the one month anniversary of the Newtown shooting, CNN stacked its Monday line-up with gun control advocates and Democratic politicians. Over the course of the entire day, CNN interviewed guests about the gun issue. 13 guests were gun control advocates, including five Democratic politicians. Only two Republican guests went on to oppose further gun control measures or defend the NRA's proposal for armed guards in schools. And CNN host Piers Morgan himself pushed for stricter gun laws. "I'm in favor of a nationwide ban on military-style semi-automatic assault weapons and high-capacity magazines. I want to close the gun show loopholes and require private dealers to run background checks on all buyers at gun shows," he announced at the beginning of his show. As NewsBusters reported yesterday, eight of the nine guests CN

Rand Paul: I promise you there’ll be no rock left unturned to try and stop Obama from usurping the Constitution

THERIGHTSCOOP.COM 3 Hours Ago Rand Paul: I promise you there’ll be no rock left unturned to try and stop Obama from usurping the Constitution Posted by The Right Scoop on January 15th, 2013 in Politics | 1 Comment Again, this is exactly what Republicans need to sound like – on more than just the 2nd amendment. This is fantastic: CBN NEWS – The Obama administration has suggested using an executive order to bypass Congress if it can’t get the gun control measures it wants. Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., told CBN News that members of Congress are prepared to fight such an order. “I’m against having a king,” Paul said. “I think having a monarch is what we fought the American Revolution over and someone who wants to bypass the Constitution, bypass Congress — that’s someone who wants to act like a king or a monarch.” “I’ve been opposed to executive orders, even with Republican presidents. But one that wants to infringe on the Second Amendment, we will fight tooth and nail,” he continue

Stop Constitutional Attacks

ACLJ.ORG 52 Minutes Ago Stop Constitutional Attacks by Jay Sekulow There's a troubling pattern developing at the White House. President Obama is launching a direct attack on our fundamental freedoms - the U.S. Constitution. At the ACLJ, we remain committed to defending your constitutional freedoms. And, now, more than ever, they are at risk due to the policies and actions of the Obama Administration. You already know about the tremendous assault on the First Amendment - the Obama Administration putting in place HHS regulations that are simply unconstitutional. Regulations that require employers to violate their religious beliefs by requiring them to pay for health insurance that covers the abortion pill. We are on the front lines in that challenge. And we are seeing success. We've been able to obtain injunctions in our three direct challenges - courts have put the HHS mandate on hold until the litigation is complete. At the same time, we're involved in supporting

Students get suspended for bringing an imaginary weapon to school

TALBOT COUNTY, Md. (WJZ) — Some parents on the Eastern Shore say school officials there went too far in disciplining a couple of six-year-old boys. Derek Valcourt explains the boys got into trouble for bringing an imaginary weapon to school. What started as a recess game of cops and robbers at a Talbot County school turned into a controversy after two six-year-old boys were suspended for using their fingers to make an imaginary gun. Many say a suspension is going too far. “It’s ridiculous,” said Julia Merchant. And it’s not the first time. Earlier this month, six-year-old Rodney Lynch was suspended from his Montgomery County school after pretending to fire an imaginary gun more than once. “Just pointing your fingers like this and then she did the pow sound and I just went like that and then I got sent to the office again,” Lynch said. School officials reversed their decision after Rodney’s parents appealed. “They’re saying he threatened a student, threatened to shoot a st
