Armed Citizens and the Modern Frontier

Armed Citizens and the Modern Frontier Gun Watch ^  | 25 May, 2013 | Dean Weingarten Posted on  05/24/2013 4:24:40 PM PDT  by  marktwain During much of the United States' existence, a significant portion of the population lived near to the uncivilized frontier. The frontier was a place where the laws of civilization did not reach, where Judeo/Christian morals were not in the ascendancy, a place of danger, where travelers must always be on their guard, where savage tribes held sway, a land often as not immersed in a low level of war, either between the tribes or between a tribe and western civilization, and where a man depended on his wits and weapons, and was not able to depend upon the force of law. (snip) The rise of these multitudes, primarily concentrated in the inner city cores, have brought about an era of American history with a new, urban, frontier. Once again, most of the country is safe,

Tyrant: Cuomo Threatens to Remove Sheriffs If They Publicly Oppose His Gun Law

PJMEDIA.COM 10 Hours Ago Tyrant: Cuomo Threatens to Remove Sheriffs If They Publicly Oppose His Gun Law by  Bryan Preston As the saying goes, scratch a liberal and you'll find a tyrant underneath. NY Gov. Andrew Cuomo is but the latest example. He shoved a very restrictive and ill-considered gun law through the state legislature in the dead of night. Among its flaws, the law criminalized police officers who tote firearms with magazines that hold more than seven rounds. Sheriffs around the state have objected to the law. Cuomo summoned them to the state capitol under what appears to be a false pretext, and used the meeting to  threaten them into silence . Cuomo invited its leaders to the Capitol last month, people briefed on the meeting said. The group included Sheriffs' Association Executive Director Peter Kehoe  and Chemung County Sheriff  Christopher Moss . "We didn't get a response (to the analysis) from him, but we could tell after the budget was passed that none

House passes gun bill over Quinn, Emanuel objections

CHICAGO TRIBUNE 6 Hours Ago House passes gun bill over Quinn, Emanuel objections SPRINGFIELD — Over objections of Gov. Pat Quinn and Mayor Rahm Emanuel, the House approved a concealed weapons bill today that is aimed at ending Illinois' status as the last state in the nation without a law to allow its citizens to carry guns in public. But the gun bill backed by House Speaker Michael Madigan goes to a Senate where President John Cullerton has denounced the proposal because it would override local gun laws like Chicago's assault weapons ban. Cullerton's stance tempered the House victory, but sponsoring Rep. Brandon Phelps contended it is critical to move forward because Illinois faces next Friday's deadline for the spring session's adjournment and a court order that gives the state June 9 to fashion a law. A federal appeals court struck down the state's ban on concealed carry. "After years of debating this issue," said Phelps, the state legislature'

Conn. gun manufacturers consider leaving the state in wake of tough gun laws

REDALERTPOLITICS.COM 4 Hours Ago Conn. gun manufacturers consider leaving the state in wake of tough gun laws by  Arianne Talma Connecticut is just the latest in a long list of states this year to see its gun manufacturers consider closing up shop because of stringent new gun control laws. Companies like  Stag Arms ,  PTR Industries  and  Sturm Ruger & Co , which have long provided a large number of jobs to the state's labor force, have either already made plans to move to other states, or are heavily considering it now that selling their products in-state is much more difficult.  According to the  National Shooting Sports Foundation , which just so happens to be in Newtown, Conn. – the sight of last December's  Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings  – gun manufacturers in the state of Connecticut account for 2,899 jobs, which increases to 7,340 when you take businesses like suppliers into account, and has a $1.7 billion economic impact within the state. Michael Bloomberg's Gun Control Group Is Finally Going After A Democrat, And It's Already Getting Really Personal

BUSINESSINSIDER.COM 5 Hours Ago Michael Bloomberg's Gun Control Group Is Finally Going After A Democrat, And It's Already Getting Really Personal by  Brett LoGiurato AP New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg's first gun control challenge to a Democrat is already getting personal. Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG), the pro-gun control group backed by  Bloomberg , released an ad on Friday targeting Sen. Mark Pryor (D-Ark.), who  voted against a high-profile amendment to expand background checks on gun purchases  last month. Pryor, who faces a potentially rocky path to re-election in 2014, immediately and defiantly pushed back against the ad, calling it "disgusting." MAIG and some progressive and liberal groups have pledged to hold accountable the four Democratic senators who  voted against the background check measure . MAIG's spot hitting Pryor is its first, however, against a Democrat. It has also gone after Sens. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) and Kelly Ayotte (N.H.).

To Our Heroes

Friday, May 24th  Dennis Bair You may not know who Dennis Bair is but for the countless thousands of families who have loved-ones who’re missing, Dennis Bair is a hero. Every year thousands of children end up missing and, though many return to their families, there are some who do not. Former minor league pitcher, Dennis Bair, realized that there was something he could do to help and that’s why he started The BairFind Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to finding missing children. To date, 18 children have found their way home thanks, in large part, to Dennis Bair and his foundation. “More eyes loo
