A Predictable Decline in Hillary Clinton's Popularity

FIVETHIRTYEIGHT.BLOGS.NYTIMES.COM 4 Hours Ago A Predictable Decline in Hillary Clinton's Popularity by  Nate Silver The controversies surrounding the I.R.S.'s targeting of conservative groups and the executive branch's handling of last year's attacks in Benghazi, Libya, have  yet to have much impact  on President Obama's approval ratings (although some slight decline may be  hidden by an improved economic mood ). But Mr. Obama's former secretary of state, Hillary Rodham Clinton, appears to be have been more affected. A  Quinnipiac University poll  released on Friday found Mrs. Clinton's favorability rating declining to 52 percent, from 61 percent in February. The decrease was considerably more modest in a  CNN poll released earlier this month , with Mrs. Clinton's favorability rating decreasing to 61 percent from 63 percent in March. Nevertheless, Mrs. Clinton's favorability scores had hovered in the mid-60s for much of the past two years — and thos

Ted Cruz: Obama Administration Does Not Respect Bill Of Rights

FREEDOMOUTPOST.COM 6 Hours Ago Ted Cruz: Obama Administration Does Not Respect Bill Of Rights by  Tim Brown Senator Ted Cruz was a guest on Fox News' America Live with Megyn Kelly and told Kelly that the Obama administration does not respect the First, Second, Fourth or Fifth Amendment of the Bill of Rights found in the U.S. Constitution that he swore an oath to "preserve, protect and defend." Kelly asked him about the scandal involving the Department of Justice (DOJ) going after reporters' records and wondered if Cruz thought such things should stand out in Attorney General Eric Holder's mind, seeing that he signed off on it. "It's unprecedented," Cruz declared. "The degree of willingness of this administration to target a reporter for this network (Fox News) as an unindicted co-conspirator… I mean that is without precedent." Cruz went on to say, "Unfortunately, I think it's part and parcel of a pattern from this administration o

Senator Releases Ad Hitting Back at Bloomberg on Guns

THEBLAZE.COM 9 Hours Ago Senator Releases Ad Hitting Back at Bloomberg on Guns by  Madeleine Morgenstern YouTube Sen. Mark Pryor (D-Ark.) is firing back at New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg for targeting him for voting against gun control legislation. Bloomberg's Mayors Against Illegal Guns took out a  $350,000 ad buy  last week to blast Pryor for his "no" vote in April. "The mayor of New York City is running ads against me because I opposed President Obama's gun control legislation," Pryor said in his ad, his first in the 2014 campaign. He went on to say that the legislation would not have prevented the mass shootings in Newtown, Aurora, Tucson or Jonesboro, Ark. "I'm committed to finding real solutions to gun violence while protecting our Second Amendment rights," he said. "I'm Mark Pryor, and I approve this message because no one from New York or Washington tells me what to do." Senator Releases Ad Hitting Back at Bloomber

Time running out for Illinois’ gun grabbing politicians

WESTERN JOURNALISM 7 Hours Ago Time running out for Illinois' gun grabbing politicians by  Doug Book If Illinois lawmakers  cannot pass a concealed carry law  acceptable to the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals by June 9 th , the constitutionally prescribed right to keep and bear arms will immediately take effect in the Prairie State. That is, just as codified in the 2 nd  Amendment, all Illinois gun owners will have the right to bear a weapon anywhere they wish in the state. On December 11 th  of last year, a 3 judge panel from the 7 th  Circuit ruled Illinois' near-total ban on the carry of firearms unconstitutional. The 47 page decision in  Moore v Madigan gave the Illinois legislature  180 days to craft legislation "…consistent with the public safety and the Second Amendment as interpreted in this opinion…" Last week, the Illinois House  voted 85-30  in favor of a new concealed carry statute that would institute both a "shall issue" provision and statewi

Obama To Sign International Gun Control Treaty On June 3rd 2013

PATRIOTUPDATE.COM 7 Hours Ago Obama To Sign International Gun Control Treaty On June 3rd 2013 On June 3, President Barack Obama will sign the U.N. Arms Trade Treaty (ATT). The ATT passed in the U.N. General Assembly by a vote of 153-4 on April 2. This treaty is ostensibly aimed at putting an end to gun trafficking across international boundaries, and both Breitbart News and the NRA have argued that it will eventually require an international gun registry in order to be enforceable. The ATT also provides the executive branch of our government with broad powers for controlling which guns do and don't come into the country, and includes ambiguous language that a gun-control-friendly administration can use to its advantage. New Jersey Pushes Gun Control

TAKINGNOTE.BLOGS.NYTIMES.COM 5 Hours Ago New Jersey Pushes Gun Control by  Andrew Rosenthal Kevin R. Wexler/The Record of Bergen County, via Associated PressChris Christie on May 28, 2013. There are two surprising things going on in New Jersey: one, the state legislature, which is famous for either doing nothing or doing the wrong thing, has passed a series of tough gun control measures; and two, it's plausible that Gov. Chris Christie will sign some of them. Mr. Christie is often as doctrinaire a right-winger as the next doctrinaire right-winger. But he is also capable of surprising people, as he has done by embracing (literally) President Obama after Hurricane Sandy. Or when he  proposed  gun control measures of his own in late April soon after Congress utterly failed to pass anything at all. Mr. Christie's proposals were too short on real regulation, but at least he's on the record supporting the general idea. And the legislature followed up. On Thursday, the Senate pas

Court backs border-state gun sale reporting rule

TOWNHALL.COM 4 Hours Ago Court backs border-state gun sale reporting rule WASHINGTON (AP) — A federal appeals court panel Friday unanimously upheld an Obama administration requirement that dealers in Southwestern border states report when customers buy multiple high-powered rifles. The firearms industry trade group, the National Shooting Sports Foundation, and two Arizona gun sellers had argued that the administration overstepped its legal authority in the 2011 regulation, which applies to gun sellers in California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. The requirement, issued in what is known as a demand letter, compels those sellers to report to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives when anyone buys — within a five-day period — two or more semi-automatic weapons capable of accepting a detachable magazine and with a caliber greater than .22. The ATF says the requirement is needed to help stop the flow of guns to Mexican drug cartels. Judge Karen LeCraft Henderson, writing

Louisiana Democrat after calling Obamacare opponents racist: “I didn’t call anyone racist”

HOTAIR.COM 7 Hours Ago Louisiana Democrat after calling Obamacare opponents racist: "I didn't call anyone racist" by  Erika Johnsen posted at 12:41 pm on May 31, 2013 by Erika Johnsen The obligatory followup to Allahpundit's post yesterday chronicling the the rhetorical misadventure of the  Democratic state Sen. Karen Carter Peterson , who during a session informed her fellow legislators that — and I quote — criticisms of ObamaCare come down to "the race of this African American president." When she was later asked to apologize for and/or defend her comments, she effectively did neither (h/t the Weekly Standard ): I'm not stepping away from anything that I said on the floor. I didn't call anyone a racist. I referenced some of the conversations that I'd had with colleagues that, you know, shared with me that one of the factors, it's not always the factor. I didn't say that everybody's decision was based on that. But certainly one of t

Megyn Kelly Destroys Erickson And Dobbs: ‘Who Died And Made You Scientist-In-Chief?!’

MEDIAITE 5 Hours Ago Megyn Kelly Destroys Erickson And Dobbs: 'Who Died And Made You Scientist-In-Chief?!' by  Andrew Kirell Megyn Kelly  took two of her Fox colleagues to the woodshed this afternoon. In response to  Erick Erickson  and  Lou Dobbs  making controversial comments this week about a Pew study finding that 40% of American households have a mother as breadwinner, Kelly brought the two of them onto her show and proceeded to tear into them. To recap:  during a Wednesday evening segment of FBN's  Lou Dobbs Tonight , Erickson, Dobbs, and other Fox male contributors lamented the Pew study's "troubling" findings, claiming it signaled a disintegration of the American family. Erickson went the farthest with his analysis, claiming it is "anti-science" to not believe that men are supposed to play the dominant role in the household. The group collectively bemoaned the increase of female breadwinners. In response, this afternoon, Kelly asked: "W
