Boston rejoices as bombing manhunt ends

RIMANEWS.COM 2 Hours Ago Boston rejoices as bombing manhunt ends RIMANEWS-Police have captured a 19-year-old man suspected of carrying out the Boston Marathon bombings with his older brother after an intense day-long manhunt that shut down the city. Residents and police officers cheered and clapped when the suspect, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, was caught on Friday after an exchange of gunfire with police. He had been hiding in the stern of a boat parked in the backyard of a house in the suburb of Watertown, police said. A resident called officers after seeing blood on the boat. Bleeding and in serious condition, he was admitted to a Boston hospital, a Massachusetts State Police spokesman said. A spokeswoman for Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Centre in Boston, Kelly Lawman, confirmed on Saturday that Tsarnaev was being treated there, but declined to comment on his condition. The FBI would be providing any updates, she said. It was not yet clear when he would face initial charges. The break in th

Lone officer confronted marathon bombing suspects in firefight, chief says

USNEWS.NBCNEWS.COM 7 Hours Ago Lone officer confronted marathon bombing suspects in firefight, chief says by  Pete Williams Watertown police chief Edward Deveau joins MSNBC's Craig Melvin to recount the details of events leading to one of the Boston bombing suspect's capture. "I am extremely lucky I'm not at a funeral this morning for one of my officers," he said. By Pete Williams, Tracy Connor and Erin McClam, NBC News A lone small-town police officer confronted the two Boston Marathon suspects on a dark street after they got out of their cars and started shooting at him, the Watertown, Mass., police chief said Saturday. In the ensuing firefight, the suspects hurled a pressure-cooker bomb similar to the two that went off near the marathon finish line, said Chief Edward Deveau. They also tossed four homemade grenade-like devices, Deveau said, with two of them exploding. The two men were in separate cars when they were confronted, he said — apparently one of their

Gun control and the Boston manhunt

BREITBART.COM 5 Hours Ago Gun control and the Boston manhunt by John Hayward by John Hayward20 Apr 2013, 2:42 PM PDT None of the thousands of officers hunting for the fugitive bombers seemed willing to settle for 7 or 10 round limits on their magazines. Does anyone doubt that a pair of killers who were able to rig up at least a dozen anti-personnel bombs would have trouble acquiring or kit-bashing their own "high-capacity" magazines? For that matter, they obviously didn't need guns to wreak horrendous amounts of carnage. It took a day-long manhunt, paralyzing the entire city of Boston, to find the most wanted man in America. He was evidently wounded the entire time. This is not a negative reflection on the police; rather, it illustrates the difficulty of controlling a crime situation in a developed area that offers so many places to hide. Relying on the police for defense is not a sound strategy. They'll certainly do their best to help you out if they

Police believe Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev were specially trained to carry out the devastating attack. More than 1,000 FBI agents were last night working to track down the cell and arrested a man and two women 60 miles from Boston in the hours before Dzhokhar's dramatic capture after a bloody shootout on Friday. A source close to the investigation said: "We have no doubt the brothers were not acting alone. The devices used to detonate the two bombs were highly sophisticated and not the kind of thing people learn from Google. "They were too advanced. Someone gave the brothers the skills and it is now our job to find out just who they were. Agents think the sleeper cell has up t
