So Who Is Winning?

Friday, October 4th  Shutdown: Day 4 The partial government shutdown drags on, and it looks like it will continue at least through the weekend. The shutdown has also coincided with the pathetic roll-out of the ObamaCare exchanges. The failure of these exchanges to properly work should be an embarrassment to this nation and it should worry every person who thinks that a government that can’t adequately set up websites in three years will do a great job handling your healthcare. We’ve seen glitches galore, we’ve seen information not being properly protected and we’ve also seen how few Americans are actually enroll

Hatch accuses Treasury Sec. Lew of creating 'needless panic' on debt limit - The Hill's On The Money

THEHILL.COM 2 Hours Ago Hatch accuses Treasury Sec. Lew of creating 'needless panic' on debt limit - The Hill's On The Money by  Peter Schroeder By Peter Schroeder - 10/04/13 03:46 PM ET Tweet Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) is accusing Treasury Secretary Jack Lew of creating "needless panic" in financial markets over the debt ceiling. In a letter sent to Lew Friday, Hatch argued that the Treasury's pronouncements about the dangers of default were "irresponsible" and are spooking markets. "It is irresponsible for high-ranking government officials to stoke fear into the marketplace and sentiments of the American people based on personal conjectures, when you know that Republicans are willing to work with you to reach a reasonable resolution," he wrote. With the Oct. 17 debt limit deadline approaching, the Obama administration has become increasingly vocal about the dangers that could come if Congress refuses to increase the $16.7 trillion borrowi

NRA Keeping Close Eye on California’s Sweeping Gun Control Bill

TOWNHALL.COM 2 Hours Ago NRA Keeping Close Eye on California's Sweeping Gun Control Bill by  Leah Barkoukis If California Gov. Jerry Brown signs a sweeping new gun control bill that would ban the future sales of semi-automatic rifles that accept detachable magazines, the NRA plans to sue, according to  Fox News . Among the bills sent to Brown last month is one that would outlaw an entire class of weapons that includes most assault rifles. It is the latest and most far-reaching attempt to close loopholes that have allowed manufacturers to circumvent previous assault weapon bans enacted in the state since the 1990s. The NRA's Institute for Legislative Action wrote in a post on its website that the bill is unconstitutional and "would make unprecedented changes to California's already unjust and byzantine 'assault weapon' law." Under current California law, assault weapons can only be used for limited purposes and owners are prohibited from transferring them

Obama Regime Closes Grand Canyon; Refuses Arizona Money to Keep it Open

TPNN.COM 5 Hours Ago Obama Regime Closes Grand Canyon; Refuses Arizona Money to Keep it Open by  Matthew Burke Proving that Obama's despotic tirades and propaganda during the partial government shutdown have nothing to do with a shortage of money (tax revenues are a record $2.4 trillion), but everything to do with creating pain for American citizens, the Obama regime has defiantly and hatefully closed the iconic Grand Canyon, even though the State of Arizona has agreed to pay whatever costs are necessary to keep it open. As reported by  FOX News : With the partial suspension of U.S. government services showing no signs of ending, tourists will continue to be turned away from the Grand Canyon, despite a push by Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer and local businesses to reopen the state's signature national park. Brewer wants the iconic park reopened and has offered to pay for it with state money, but her proposal was rejected Thursday by a park official who said that as long as the federa

Park Service Tries Shutting Down Private Hotel

PAT DOLLARD YOUNG AMERICANS 3 Hours Ago Park Service Tries Shutting Down Private Hotel Oct 4, 2013 Infidel Alie Excerpted from  WASHINGTON TIMES:  The Pisgah Inn, a private hotel that holds a concession on the Blue Ridge Parkway, has become a national sensation as it defies "intimidation" and a National Park Service order to close its doors. After a tumultuous few days, inn owner Bruce O'Connell told The Washington Times on Friday morning that he had just reopened his doors for customers, despite the park service telling him he had to shut down. He says he's essentially private property, on a road that's still open, and uses no government personnel, so he sees no reason to quit operating. "I'm questioning their authority to shut me," Mr. O'Connell said. The National Park Service is involved in several high-profile battles during the shutdown, including having barricaded open-air monuments and memorials in Washington. Veterans busted through barr

WEASELZIPPERS.US 2 Hours Ago Military Chaplains Threatened With Arrest If They Celebrate Mass On Bases During Shutdown Mind boggling to think a priest could be arrested simply for holding mass. Via  Daily Caller : In a stunning development, some military priests are facing arrest if they celebrate mass or practice their faith on military bases during the federal government shutdown. "With the government shutdown, many [government service] and contract priests who minister to Catholics on military bases worldwide are not permitted to work – not even to volunteer," wrote John Schlageter, the general counsel for the Archdiocese for the Military Services USA, in  an op-ed  this week. ‘Duck Dynasty’ Star: Show Adding ‘Fake Bleeps’ Despite No Cursing

HOUSTON.CBSLOCAL.COM 1 Hour Ago 'Duck Dynasty' Star: Show Adding 'Fake Bleeps' Despite No Cursing MONROE, La. (CBS Houston)  — Popular A&E reality show "Duck Dynasty" continues to smash competition in the ratings on Wednesday nights, but one star has spoken out about how the show is portrayed. In an interview with Sports Spectrum TV earlier this year that's only recently gone viral, Phil Robertson admitted that fake bleeps were inserted into the show even though there was no cursing happening. "The inserted fake bleeps … like somebody had used profanity, but no one had used profanity," Robertson said. "I ask those guys that produce the show … 'What's the point of the fake bleeps?'" Robertson admitted that there are up to 20 editors who are "arranging the scenes" on the show so they might think that's where cursing likely happened. "Of course these people probably thought that there was some profanity

Sources: Obama to usurp Constitutional power from Congress

EXAMINER.COM 45 Minutes Ago Sources: Obama to usurp Constitutional power from Congress by  Anthony Martin According to sources in Congress and the White House,  Barack Obama  is preparing to usurp the Constitutional power of Congress to control the purse strings of the federal government. The Obama plan entails using the 14th Amendment of the Constitution to bypass Congress on the upcoming  debt ceiling  debate and unilaterally raise the debt ceiling without the approval of Congress. On Thursday Mark Levin  cited several Congressional sources who have told him that Obama has no intention of negotiating with Congress on the debt, which is just under $17 trillion, the highest in U.S. history. When unfunded liabilities such as Social Security and Medicare are added in,  the real debt is over $125 trillion  -- a figure so astronomically high that the country has no hope of ever paying it back. Uncontrolled spending has led the nation to this point. According to Levin, Congressional source

Sen. Reid Re-Writes History to Mask Dem Scheme to Make Shut Down as Painful as Possible

SPEAKER.GOV 35 Minutes Ago Sen. Reid Re-Writes History to Mask Dem Scheme to Make Shut Down as Painful as Possible by  Katie Boyd The Democrats who run Washington are on defense today after admitting that it " doesn't really matter " to them how long the government is shut down because, in the White House's view, they're "winning." With their cynical strategy laid bare, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) tried to re-write history  today  by claiming: But it was  just this Monday  that Sen. Reid made very clear: So, which is it? If there was any doubt Democrats are trying to make this shutdown as lengthy and painful as possible for Americans, look no further than their efforts to oppose the  numerous common-sense bills  the House has passed to fund the most critical parts of government, including veterans, the National Guard, FEMA, and support services for women, infants, and children, among others. When asked about passing one of these bills this
