Did we say shutdown? Okay, it's more of a temporary rollback of non-essential services. Nonetheless, the government wants to assure you that anarchy is sweeping the land. 1. The White House Goes Dark View this image › Always eager to avoid blame, President Obama passes the buck with some serious passive aggressiveness. The Government Shuts Down

Tuesday, October 1st Government Shutdown The clock struck midnight and Washington was without a deal on the Continuing Resolution. We are officially in a partial government shutdown, the first one in 17 years. Throughout the day yesterday, the House and the Senate lobbed legislation like ping-pong balls back and forth at each other. Each time, the House watered down its efforts to defund or delay ObamaCare and each time the Senate said that they would only accept a "clean" CR. The House offered a motion to go to conference, but today Senate Democrats voted to refuse to even talk to the Republicans. Re

Obama spent more time on the phone with Hassan Rouhani than John Boehner

FIRE ANDREA MITCHELL! 7 Hours Ago Obama spent more time on the phone with Hassan Rouhani than John Boehner Obama actually  spent more time  on the phone with Iran's president and dictator Hassan Rouhani on his way to the airport leaving the UN, than he did with the Speaker of the House John Boehner tonight to avoid government shutdown. Boehner is going about this all wrong. He's already got the orange skin. He needs to put on one of those turbans, grow a beard and learn Farsi. Obama spoke with Boehner for a whole ten minutes . He gave more time to Hassan Rouhani. Obama thinks far more highly of a corrupt Iranian dictator than he does than the American people. Valerie Jarrett was unavailable for comment. Sarah Palin hits Obama: "We don't do pinpricks but sometimes we elect them"

THERIGHTSCOOP.COM 8 Hours Ago Sarah Palin hits Obama: "We don't do pinpricks but sometimes we elect them" Posted by  The Right Scoop   on September 30th, 2013 in  Politics  |  3 Comments Sarah Palin took a clever shot at Obama tonight in advising the Republicans to remind everyone that a government shutdown isn't armageddon like Democrats would have them believe, but rather it's a pinprick. She then reminds Hannity that Obama said the other week when he was ready to bomb Syria that America doesn't do pinpricks. She agrees, saying we don't do pinpricks but sometimes we elect them. Surprise, The World Spins On

REDSTATE 2 Hours Ago Surprise, The World Spins On by  Erick Erickson By:  Erick Erickson  ( Diary ) | October 1st, 2013 at 04:30 AM | RESIZE: AAA As I type this — having gone to bed around 1 a.m. and back up now just after 4 — the government is still shut down. I know what you're thinking. "How am I still alive?" Seriously. The government is shut down and the world is spinning on. You and I are still alive. In a few hours, my kids will go off to a school that will still be open. In fact, essential government services, which might be called constitutional functions of government, will continue. Your mail is going to be delivered. The TSA will still feel you up before your plane ride, which will still take off. The President promised us horror upon horror with sequestration and we didn't get it. They'll do the same now. But here now, this morning, let's be frank and candid. The GOP now has no winning hand. None. The medical device tax is laughably ridiculous an

Government Has Shut Down 18 Times Since 1976

ZERO HEDGE 7 Hours Ago Government Has Shut Down 18 Times Since 1976 by  George Washington NPR  points out : Since a new process was put into place in  1976 , the U.S. government has shut down 17 times [Update: Make that  18 ]. Presidents  Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan each dealt with six shutdowns  during their terms in office, lasting anywhere from one day to 2 1/2 weeks. The last actual shutdown came in 1996 …. The last shutdown lasted three weeks …. This is not to say that there a shutdown would have no effect … but it is not the end-of-the-world scenario which some would paint it to be.
