Navy Yard Weapon Exempted Under Proposed Ban

BREITBART.COM 3 Hours Ago Navy Yard Weapon Exempted Under Proposed Ban from  AP  18 Sep 2013, 1:58 PM PDT  post a comment (AP) Navy Yard weapon exempted under proposed ban By EILEEN SULLIVANAssociated Press WASHINGTON The shotgun used by the Navy Yard shooter is identified by name as a firearm that would not be covered under a proposed weapons ban supported by the White House. The shotgun Navy Yard gunman Aaron Alexis used in his rampage, the Remington 870 Express, is included in a long list of firearms that would be exempted from a ban if legislation introduced in the Senate earlier this year were to become law. The bill, introduced by California Democrat Dianne Feinstein, has little hope of passage. It would ban 157 specific firearms designed for military and law enforcement use, and it would exempt more than 2,200 others. Feinstein said the purpose of listing exempted weapons was to send a message that the ban wouldn't affect hunting and sporting w...

Cruz Predicts Senate Defeat on Obamacare Defunding, Asks House to Keep Up Fight - The World's Greatest Deliberative Body

BLOGS.ROLLCALL.COM 2 Hours Ago Cruz Predicts Senate Defeat on Obamacare Defunding, Asks House to Keep Up Fight - The World's Greatest Deliberative Body by  Niels Lesniewski By  Niels Lesniewski Posted at 6:05 p.m. today Tweet (Bill Clark/CQ Roll Call) Even before the House passes legislation to keep the government running while cutting funds for Obamacare, Sen. Ted Cruz is already telling House Republicans to not back down in the next round. Cruz made the comment in a statement predicting that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada and his Democratic majority, along with some Republicans, will likely back a spending bill that holds the 2010 health care law harmless. "Harry Reid will no doubt try to strip the defund language from the continuing resolution, and right now he likely has the votes to do so," Cruz said. "At that point, House Republicans must stand firm, hold their ground, and continue to listen to the American people. President Obama has already gran...

Report: Superiors told Capitol Police SWAT team to stand down during Navy Yard massacre?

HOTAIR.COM 2 Hours Ago Report: Superiors told Capitol Police SWAT team to stand down during Navy Yard massacre? posted at 6:01 pm on September 18, 2013 by Allahpundit I thought the biggest scandal to come from the shooting today would be the fact that the Pentagon  didn't run a full background check on this guy  when he was re-hired as a contractor in July. All they did, which is apparently standard practice, was check to make sure his security clearance from 2007 was still intact. No interviews with family members, co-workers, or employers; if there had been, maybe someone would have tipped them to the fact of his mental problems. But no, that's not the biggest scandal if  this BBC report  is right. This … can't possibly be true, can it? Multiple sources in the Capitol Police department have told the BBC that its highly trained and heavily armed four-man Containment and Emergency Response Team (Cert) was near the Navy Yard when the initial report of an active ...

Dick Durbin: GOP Needs To Stop Acting Like ‘Squealing Political Pigs’

PAT DOLLARD YOUNG AMERICANS 1 Hour Ago Dick Durbin: GOP Needs To Stop Acting Like 'Squealing Political Pigs' Sep 18, 2013 Infidel Alie Excerpted from  Floor Action:  Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) told House Republicans to stop acting like "squealing political pigs." "We need to act like adults not like squealing political pigs," Durbin said on the Senate floor Wednesday. Durbin's remarks were in reaction to a House Republican announcement that they would advance a government spending bill that defunds ObamaCare — something Democrats have said would lead to a government shut down. "If that is what the Tea Party Republicans think is leadership, God save the United States of America," Durbin said. Unless Congress agrees on continued spending resolution (CR) by Oct. 1, the government will shut down. Durbin said the situation was avoidable because it was a "self-imposed crisis" created by House Republicans. Some Republicans ha...

ObamaCare Is Going To Cost You

Wednesday, September 18th  ObamaCare Backlash It's hard to believe but we are just days away from the ObamaCare exchanges going into effect October 1st. Meanwhile, the country remains deeply concerned about ObamaCare and a scant few in Washington seem serious about doing anything to stop it. Barack Obama gave an interview to Telemundo the other day. During that interview he was asked about ObamaCare. Jose Diaz-Balart posed the question: “The Affordable Care Act takes effect next month, The latest NBC/Wall Street Journal poll shows Americans oppose it, believing it will produce damaging results. A Better Way | Congressman Phil Roe, Tennessee District 1

A Better Way Washington, Sep 18  |  Tiffany McGuffee  (202-226-8072) |  0  comments f   t   #   e Health care shouldn't be a partisan issue, so why is the only bipartisan thing about President Obama's health care law its opposition? A new poll released by Fox News found that 68 percent of all Americans, both Republican and Democrat, are concerned about what their health care will look like under ObamaCare. Fifty-six percent of Democrats say they feel concerned on some level, with 31 percent admitting to being "very concerned." But despite widespread anxiety, President Obama refuses to acknowledge it's time to repeal his bill and start over. ObamaCare's insurance exchanges are set to open on October 1, but many states and health care providers aren't ready. In July, the administration announced they would delay the employer mandate by one year, but refused to give families that same protection. If the president believes employers deserve protection...
