Connecticut's new gun control law challenged in court

NHREGISTER.COM 6 Hours Ago Connecticut's new gun control law challenged in court by  Mary E. O'Leary By Mary E. O'Leary moleary@nhregister.com  / Twitter:  @nhrmoleary BRIDGEPORT — A constitutional challenge to the state's new tough gun control law has been filed in U.S. District Court. The Connecticut Citizens Defense League thanked the National Rifle Association for making the expected legal challenge possible. The suit seeks immediate injunctive relief and a ruling declaring the new law unconstitutional under the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. It charges that the law makes citizens and law enforcement less safe because it deprives them of using weapons with certain design features that they say enhance safety and accuracy. The new law added more than 100 firearms to the list of banned assault weapons in Connecticut, as well as banning magazines with more than 10 bullets. The suit says the law's language is vague and difficult to interpret. The suit f

The Woolwich beheading is straight out of al-Qaeda's terror manual

BLOGS.TELEGRAPH.CO.UK 6 Hours Ago The Woolwich beheading is straight out of al-Qaeda's terror manual The horrific killing in Woolwich, where a man believed to be a soldier based at the nearby Woolwich barracks was beheaded by two machete-wielding assailants, has all the hallmarks of an al-Qaeda attack. At the time of writing we are still awaiting confirmation from security officials about the precise nature of the incident. But having just watched some  ITN footage , which shows a man with bloodied hands who is carrying a machete saying directly into the camera "We swear by almighty Allah we will never stop fighting you", it seems pretty clear to me what has happened. "We swear by almighty Allah we will never stop fighting you" For years al-Qaeda activists such as Anwar al-Awlaki, the American-born cleric who preached global jidad from his base in Yemen until he was killed by a U.S. drone strike two years ago, have been calling on their followers to launch thei

JOEFORAMERICA.COM 5 Hours Ago New Poll: 48% of Americans Want Obama Impeached by  Joe Wurzelbacher On the one hand, Wenzel Strategies isn't exactly a household name in the pollster world. On the other hand,  these are some mighty high numbers at this point in the game when none of the big Obama scandals seem to have gone nuclear yet . "It may be early in the process for members of Congress to start planning for impeachment of Barack Obama, but the American public is building a serious appetite for it," said Fritz Wenzel, of Wenzel Strategies, which did the telephone poll Thursday. It has a margin of error of 4.36 percent. "Half or nearly half of those surveyed said they believed Obama should be impeached for the trifecta of scandals now consuming Washington."  THERIGHTSCOOP.COM 4 Hours Ago Darrell Issa says Lerner voided her Fifth Amendment rights and now he's gonna recall her Posted by   The Right Scoop  on May 22nd, 2013 in  Politics  | I'm thinking Lois Lerner might want to hire some new counsel because if Issa is correct, these guys let her down big time: "She went ahead and made a statement, so counsel let her effectively under the precedent, waive — so we now have someone who no longer has that ability." POLITICO  – House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa said embattled IRS official Lois Lerner waived her Fifth Amendment rights and will be hauled back to appear before his panel again. US immigration bill moves one step forward

ALJAZEERA.COM 24 Minutes Ago US immigration bill moves one step forward A sweeping overhaul of the US immigration system has taken a major step toward viability when a Senate panel gave bipartisan approval to a landmark bill offering a path to citizenship for millions. The Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday approved the contentious and potentially historic legislation by a 13-5 vote, following weeks of marathon hearings and meetings to consider more than 200 amendments. The bill emerged with its core mostly intact, including requirements for major advances in border security, visa programs for high- and low-skilled workers, and expansion of a comprehensive e-verify system for employers. It needs 60 votes to pass the 100-seat Senate, and would then head to the Republican-controlled House of Representatives, where its fate is uncertain and where lawmakers are drawing up their own immigration legislation. "I will continue my efforts to end the needless discrimination so many Amer
