Via  Politico : Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid plans to meet with Vice President Joe Biden and Sen. Joe Manchin in the next week to discuss the possibility of reviving the Senate's dormant gun legislation. In Virginia, Another Sign of the Shifting Politics of Gun Control

NEWREPUBLIC.COM 8 Hours Ago In Virginia, Another Sign of the Shifting Politics of Gun Control by  Alec Macgillis Have you heard about the weird stuff going on in the lieutenant governor's race in Virginia? No, I'm not talking about the Republican nominee, the  African-American preacher E.W. Jackson , who has said that gay-rights groups have "done more to kill black folks whom they claim so much to love than the Ku Klux Klan, lynching and slavery and Jim Crow ever did," said that the Democratic Party has "an agenda worthy of the Antichrist," and called the Affordable Care Act "slavery-care." I'm referring to the oddity on the other side, where the two candidates running in next week's Democratic primary are trying to outdo each other on gun control—support for it, that is. Chalk it up as yet another sign that, as I  argue in the magazine's current issue , the politics of gun control are changing, even if the bill to expand background ch

NEWS BUSTERS 6 Hours Ago MSNBC Anchor Says Republicans Weren't Sent to D.C. to 'Just Hold Hearings' by  Paul Bremmer MSNBC continues to disparage the scandals that have plagued the Obama administration the last few weeks. On Sunday's  Weekends with Alex Witt , the host brought on former Democratic staffer Jimmy Williams and former RNC chairman Michael Steele to reluctantly discuss the scandals once again. Of course, rather than focus on the substance of the controversies, Witt fell back on the concern that she and many others in the liberal media have often expressed: " [D]oes this have the potential to derail the president's second-term agenda?" The president's agenda is always the victim of these scandal investigations in the minds of the press, at least when there's a (D) following the president's surname. Williams, being the Democrat that he is, brushed aside that question and riffed on another favorite left-wing talking point – Republican

Sebelius: I can’t suspend the lung-transplant rules for a dying 10-year-old

HOTAIR.COM 3 Hours Ago Sebelius: I can't suspend the lung-transplant rules for a dying 10-year-old posted at 8:01 pm on June 4, 2013 by Allahpundit Portrait of a bureaucratic nightmare: A little girl's dying from cystic fibrosis and has three to five weeks to live  unless  she gets a lung transplant before then. The good news is that adult lungs can be modified for a child her age in a way that'll save her life — except that, because she's only 10, she's not eligible for them. The "adult" list starts at 12; everyone younger than that goes to the children's list, where lungs are much harder to come by. The question is, does Sebelius have the authority to suspend those age limitations and make the girl, Sarah Murnaghan, eligible for an adult transplant? I honestly don't know the answer. Murnaghan's parents say Sebelius's authority is clear; Sebelius herself claims that HHS's lawyers have told her  she can't do it . A life hangs in th
