Forget Gun Control, Ed Schultz Declares, Democrats Should Focus on Jobs

NEWS BUSTERS 6 Hours Ago Forget Gun Control, Ed Schultz Declares, Democrats Should Focus on Jobs by  Jack Coleman Never let it be said that Ed Schultz isn't bravely willing to thrust his finger high in the air to see which way the wind is blowing. Schultz did this on his radio show yesterday, citing a  new Gallup poll  as justification for Democrats to end their obsession for more gun laws in the six months since the Sandy Hook massacre and focus instead on the economy.  (Audio clip after page break) When it comes to principled beliefs, Schultz can be remarkably pliant. A transcript of his remarks, with unavoidably snarky commentary in italics  (audio)  -- Now, if you follow the news and I hope you do if you listen to this radio show, you catch the cables every now and then or you watch the nightly news or you listen to the radio, has there been a number thrown out more than 90 percent? In fact, I don't know if it's in your mind but it is mine, every ...

New Jersey: Gun Control Package Advancing in Trenton Despite Outcry from Gun Owners

NRAILA.ORG 10 Hours Ago New Jersey: Gun Control Package Advancing in Trenton Despite Outcry from Gun Owners Proposed anti-gun laws that have been debated and discussed for weeks in Trenton continue to move closer to approval in the state legislature.  Many of these onerous legislative proposals, previously reported  here  by the NRA-ILA, have already passed in the Assembly and are now tentatively scheduled for floor action in the Senate on Monday, May 13.   The state legislature has reached a critical point in its process, and New Jersey gun owners must continue to pressure state lawmakers to defeat these dangerous gun bills. This proposed legislation constitutes the most extreme gun control package that New Jersey has considered in several decades - largely because the state already has the country's second "strongest" – most restrictive – gun laws according to the Brady Campaign!  However, anti-gun lawmakers are desperate to push their gun ban agend...

Tom Coburn says after national park gun ban lifted, violent crime fell by 85 percent

POLITIFACT 5 Hours Ago Tom Coburn says after national park gun ban lifted, violent crime fell by 85 percent by  Louis Jacobson During an interview on the MSNBC show  Morning Joe , Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., argued for legislation he's proposing that would allow guns to be carried into lands controlled by the Army Corps of Engineers. To make the case that guns make places safer, Coburn cited a dramatic before-and-after statistic that stems from the lifting of a ban on guns in national parks. Coburn was a leader in the effort to get Congress to approve the change. President Barack Obama signed the national park provision into law, and it took effect in February 2010. "In 2010," Coburn said on  Morning Joe , "everybody said you can't dare let guns go into the national parks, and of course the rapes, murders, robberies and assaults are down about 85 percent since we did that." That's a pretty stunning drop. Is it accurate? When we checked with Coburn's o...

Remington Arms Makes Official Statement on New York Gun Laws

WIBX950.COM 1 Hour Ago Remington Arms Makes Official Statement on New York Gun Laws Remington Arms officials have made their first statement in regards to New York's new gun laws.  The statement was released on their Facebook page. Interestingly, Remington did not close the door on an exit from Ilion, simply saying, " Remington will not run or abandon its loyal and hard working 1,300 employees without considerable thought and deliberation."   Remington is Herkimer County's largest employer and is the oldest gun maker in America. "Remington will not run or abandon its loyal and hard working 1,300 employees without considerable thought and deliberation." In 1839 Eliphalet was joined by his oldest son,  Philo Remington  (to make the business "E. Remington & Son"), and in 1845 his second son, Samuel, also joined the company, afterwards called "E. Remington & Sons". Remington's third son, Eliphalet III, would later join the compan...

US State Department Halts 3-D Gun Production: Demands Removal Of All Online Blueprints

ZERO HEDGE 1 Hour Ago US State Department Halts 3-D Gun Production: Demands Removal Of All Online Blueprints by  Tyler Durden Three days ago, in an  article  that looked at the convergence of 3-D printing and the 2nd Amendment, we presented " the Liberator " - the world's first fully 3-D printed firearm. The name was aptly chosen because courtesy of its creator, 25-year old UofT law student Cody Wilson, and his non-profit group Defense Distributed, its online blueprint and assembly instructions liberated "anyone to be able to download and print a gun with no serial number, in the privacy of their garage" in effect completely circumventing any gun control/distribution laws, background checks and other regulatory hurdles of an increasingly authoritarian government. In fact, we were counting the number of days before some US Federal agency would come knocking on Cody Wilson's door and involved that other key Amendment - the First, by either " disappearing...

Dershowitz: Tex Cruz one of Harvard Law’s smartest students

DAILYCALLER.COM 2 Hours Ago Dershowitz: Tex Cruz one of Harvard Law's smartest students by  Charles C. Johnson Texas Republican Ted Cruz at the Conservative Political Action Conference earlier this year. (Photo: Grae Stafford / The Daily Caller) Tweet "I don't think he'll get the nomination when you think about Rubio and posturing himself a little more to the center on immigration" Famed Harvard Law School professor Alan Dershowitz ranks Sen. Ted Cruz among the school's smartest students, adding that the Canada-born Texan can run for president in 2016. Cruz was a "terrific student," Dershowitz told The Daily Caller. "He was always very active in class, presenting a libertarian point of view. He didn't strike me as a social conservative, more of a libertarian." "He had brilliant insights and he was clearly among the top students, as revealed by his class responses," Dershowitz added. Dershowitz also gave a high estimate of Mas...

Infographic: Is Your State's Highest-Paid Employee A Coach? (Probably)

DEADSPIN 9 Hours Ago Infographic: Is Your State's Highest-Paid Employee A Coach? (Probably) by  Reuben Fischer-Baum You may have heard that the highest-paid employee in each state is usually the football coach at the largest state school. This is actually a gross mischaracterization: Sometimes it is the basketball coach. Based on data drawn from media reports and state salary databases, the ranks of the highest-paid active public employees include 27 football coaches, 13 basketball coaches, one hockey coach, and 10 dorks who aren't even in charge of a team. So are  my  hard-earned tax dollars paying these coaches? Probably not. The bulk of this coaching money—especially at the big football schools—is paid out of the revenue that the teams generate. So what's the problem then? These guys make tons of money for their schools; shouldn't they be paid accordingly? There are at least three problems. Coaches don't generate revenue on their own; you could make the exact sa...
