Gingrich dismisses call for assault-weapons ban as ‘propaganda’ -

THEHILL.COM 10 Hours Ago Gingrich dismisses call for assault-weapons ban as ‘propaganda’ - The Hill's Blog Briefing Room Tweet Former Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) on Sunday dismissed the term “assault weapon” as “propaganda” and said banning more weapons would not stem gun violence. “The term ‘assault weapon’ is propaganda,” said Gingrich on CBS’s “Face the Nation.” “Any true military weapon is illegal, has been illegal since 1934. Somebody’s using an AK-47, they are using an illegal weapon because it is an automatic weapon. We do not allow people to buy automatic weapons unless they have a very strict collector’s license.” In the wake of last month’s mass shooting at an elementary school in Conn., President Obama is pressing lawmakers to ban the sale of military-style semi-automatic weapons and high capacity clips, as well as institute universal background checks. Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) last week introduced a sweeping bill which would ban over 150 different se

Seven Killed Saturday Night In Gun-Controlled Chicago

BREITBART.COM 5 Hours Ago Seven Killed Saturday Night In Gun-Controlled Chicago by AWR Hawkins 27 Jan 2013, 2:07 PM PDT post a comment Among those killed were a 16-year old kid and a 32-year old man, both of whom were gunned down in a double homicide at approximately 5 p.m. The shooting appeared to be random, and witnesses at the scene described seeing one of the bodies just lying in the roadway by a bus stop. Five hours later, a 38 year-old man was shot and killed and just before midnight, another 32-year old man was stabbed to death. The bottom line is that gun control isn't working in Chicago. It won't work for the nation as a whole, either. Either we keep and bear arms as our Founding Fathers intended or we expand the failing Chicago model, where more than 440 school-age children were shot and wounded last year and where seven people lost their lives Saturday night alone.

Virginia House Committee Passes Bill Preventing Enforcement Of Federal Gun Laws

GRUMPYELDER.COM 3 Hours Ago Virginia House Committee Passes Bill Preventing Enforcement Of Federal Gun Laws by Susan Duclos By Susan Duclos Wake Up America In response to Obama and liberal gun grabbers’ push for gun control, gun and certain ammunition clip/magazine bans, Virginia’s Committee on Militia, Police and Public Safety voted overwhelmingly on a bill to prevent state officials from helping to enforce any new federal gun-control laws that might be passed. The bill would “Prevent any agency, political subdivision, or employee of Virginia from assisting the Federal government of the United States in any investigation, prosecution, detention, arrest, search, or seizure, under the authority of any federal statute enacted, or Executive Order or regulation issued, after December 31, 2012, infringing the individual Right to Keep andBear Arms by imposing new restrictions on private ownership or private transfer of firearms, firearm magazines, ammunition, or components thereo

Piers Morgan schooled on need to have AR-15 by 22-year-old woman

EXAMINER.COM 4 Hours Ago Piers Morgan schooled on need to have AR-15 by 22-year-old woman by Joe Newby Earlier this week, CNN's Piers Morgan got educated on the need to have an AR-15 for self defense from 22-year-old Celia Bigelow, the director of campus action for America Majority Action, Newsbusters reported Sunday. "I want a gun that can hold a lot of ammo because if I'm faced with an intruder or multiple intruders that come into my home, I want to make sure I have enough ammo to get the job done, especially if they're armed," she told Morgan. Since the Newtown shooting, Morgan has used his program to push an anti-gun agenda, often belittling those who support the right to keep and bear arms. "One of my arguments against guns is you don't need assault weapons for self defense," he said before introducing Bigelow and Aubrey Blankenship, director of communications for the Blue Ridge Arsenal in Chantilly, Virginia. But Bigelow rattled of

Do gun bans actually curb violent crime?

WND.COM 7 Hours Ago Do gun bans actually curb violent crime? by Chuck Norris (Editor’s note: This is Part 2 of Chuck Norris’ three-part series on reducing violent crime in the U.S. Part 1 is available here.) Who isn’t sickened by the moral decay and heinous acts of violence across our country? My heart and prayers continue to go out to victims everywhere. But do gun bans, like the one proposed last week by Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., outlawing 120 specific firearms, actually curb violent crime? Not according to a recent Fox News investigation, “Assault-weapons ban no guarantee mass shootings would decrease, data shows.” The report concludes, “Data published earlier this year showed that while the [Clinton assault] ban was in place, from 1994 to 2004, the number of mass shootings actually rose slightly during that period. Add to that the fact that most gun crimes in America are committed with handguns… [and] as the NRA points out, only a ‘tiny fraction’ of crimes involve

Obama Admin To Purchase 7,000 'Assault Rifles'...

REDFLAGNEWS.COM 3 Hours Ago Obama Admin To Purchase 7,000 'Assault Rifles'... The Department of Homeland Security is seeking to acquire 7,000 5.56x45mm NATO “personal defense weapons” (PDW) — also known as “assault weapons” when owned by civilians. The solicitation, originally posted on June 7, 2012, comes to light as the Obama administration is calling for a ban on semi-automatic rifles and high capacity magazines. Citing a General Service Administration (GSA) request for proposal (RFP), Steve McGough of RadioViceOnline.com reports that DHS is asking for the 7,000 “select-fire” firearms because they are “suitable for personal defense use in close quarters.” The term select-fire means the weapon can be both semi-automatic and automatic. Civilians are prohibited from obtaining these kinds of weapons. The RFP describes the firearm as “Personal Defense Weapon (PDW) – 5.56x45mm NATO, select-fire firearm suitable for personal defense use in close quarters and/or when maximum

Duh!: Feinstein Says She Wants To Go After More Than Just “Assault Weapons

FREEDOMOUTPOST.COM 3 Hours Ago Duh!: Feinstein Says She Wants To Go After More Than Just “Assault Weapons” by Tim Brown Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) appeared on CNN’s State of the Union on Sunday told host Candy Crowley that the push for gun bans won’t just be about her alleged “assault weapons.” Feinstein told Candy Crowely that it has “always been an uphill battle,” pointing to her “assault weapons ban” bill. “This is the hardest of the hard, she said.” “Will it only be ‘assault weapons’?” she asked. “No,” she declared, answering her own question, “most likely there will be a package put together.” “If assault weapons is left out the package and I’m a member of the Judiciary, number two in seniority, I’ve been assured by the majority leader I’ll be able to do it as an amendment on the floor, which is the way I did it in 1993,” she said. “So that doesn’t particularly bother me. What does bother me is I’ve seen weapons spawned and grown and now in the hands of younger and

Nazi Eyewitness Warns: The Final Step of Nazi Control – Gun Laws

THEGATEWAYPUNDIT.COM 1 Hour Ago Nazi Eyewitness Warns: The Final Step of Nazi Control – Gun Laws by Jim Hoft (Fairly Civil) Kitty Werthmann is a native Austrian who remembers well the Third Reich reign of terror in Europe. Kitty believes America is truly the greatest country in the world. She speaks often on socialism and how Adolf Hitler took power. This is from her 2009 essay: America Truly is the Greatest Country in the World. Don’t Let Freedom Slip Away The Final Steps – Gun Laws: Next came gun registration. People were getting injured by guns. Hitler said that the real way to catch criminals (we still had a few) was by matching serial numbers on guns. Most citizens were law abiding and dutifully marched to the police station to register their firearms. Not long after-wards, the police said that it was best for everyone to turn in their guns. The authorities already knew who had them, so it was futile not to comply voluntarily. No more freedom of speech. Anyone who
