Fellow Patriot, Today, June 14th, is both the 236th anniversary of the establishment of the United States Army, and fittingly, the 234th anniversary of the adoption of our nation's flag. In 1776, Thomas Paine opened his famous pamphlet, "The American Crisis," with these words: "THESE are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives every thing its value. Heaven knows how to put a proper price upon its goods; and it would be strange indeed if so celestial an article as freedom should not be highly rated." On this June day in 2011, America is once again in crisis, and the Liberty won at great price and bequeathed to us by generations of Patriots is in eminent peril. Paine's words from 1776 ring true today. I invite you to celebrate Army Day, Flag Day and our upcoming Independence Day, in part, by supporting The Patriot Post. From our humble beginnings, The Patriot Post has grown to become America's most trusted advocate for First Principles, Essential Liberty and Constitutional Rule of Law. This measure of success is (to paraphrase Ronald Reagan) not because we're great communicators, but because we're communicating great things to the current generation of American Patriots, and because you, in turn, have sustained our effort and helped us grow our ranks. Indeed, we have to muster greater numbers of Patriots in order to sustain Liberty for the next generation. While many of our readers support us at the end of the year, and some throughout the year, we also endure a perennial summer "dry spell," a substantial budget shortfall in our third quarter, and we need your help to bridge the gap between now and October. If you have the ability and have not already done so, please take a moment to support The Patriot Post's 2011 Independence Day Campaign. I humbly encourage you to make a contribution -- however large or small. If you prefer to support us by mail, please use our printable donor form. Thank you for being vigilant and faithful in your selfless support of liberty. We're humbled to count you among our readers, and it's my great privilege to serve you as editor of The Patriot Post. May God bless you, and may our great nation continue to be blessed with the liberty He has endowed. Semper Vigilo, Fortis, Paratus et Fidelis! P.S. Your support is more critical than ever before. As a measure of our thanks, for a donation of $26, we will send you the gift of your choice -- our popular Tea Party Primer, the Essential Liberty Guide, or a packet containing a collection of popular patriotic bumper stickers from The Patriot Shop. Donate $52 or more and receive four booklets or a sticker packet; contribute $100 or more to receive 10 booklets or a sticker packet. Help keep the flame of Liberty bright by distributing these booklets and stickers to family, friends, and associates. Please note that you may also choose to not receive a thank you gift. (Note: The Patriot Post is not sustained by any political, special interest or parent organization, and we do no online or e-mail advertising for any third party. Our operations and mission are funded by -- and depend entirely upon -- the voluntary financial support of American Patriots like YOU!)
