NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — A man was killed Thursday evening after being shoved in front of an oncoming Subway train in Queens, police said.
Investigators continue to look for a female suspect, who is believed to have shoved the victim as a Queens-bound 7 Train came into the 40th Street-Lowery Street station around 8 p.m.
Police told reporters Thursday night that the suspect was seen mumbling and talking to herself before sitting down on a wooden bench by herself.
Authorities said the woman waited until the train came before approaching the victim from behind and pushing him onto the elevated tracks.
“Oh my God. That. I’ve never heard of that. That is really…a woman pushed a man — Oh my God. That is really crazy now,” Woodside resident Shiek Hossain told CBS 2′s Derricke Dennis.
“I think that’s horrible — so many crazy people running the streets,” said Beverly Gonzalez.
Witnesses said the victim didn’t notice the suspect, who police said was a heavyset Hispanic woman in her 20s with brown or blonde hair. Police also described the woman as being about 5-foot-5.
The unidentified woman was described as wearing a blue, white and gray ski jacket and Nike sneakers. She fled down stairs following the push, police said.
Police have questioned several witnesses about the incident. Surveillance video at a pizza shot across the street from the station may have captured video of the suspect running away. Investigators are now taking a closer look.
“I hope they can find something,” said restaurant owner Giovanni Briones.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority said 7 Train service was being disrupted as a result of the incident.

This is the second deadly subway pushing this month.
Back on December 3, police said Ki Suck Han was pushed to his death by 30-year-old Naeem Davis.
“It’s very sad. It seems people are doing this over and over and it’s very sad,” said Shiek Hossain.
