A shooting has occurred on a Texas campus, injuring three and sending dozens others running for cover.
When shots broke out earlier today at Lone Star College, one of the largest of Houston’s many school systems, students barricaded themselves inside their classrooms putting desks in front of the doors.
Reuters reports:
“Student Amanda Vasquez said she was waiting for an English class to start in a campus building when she heard shots.
“I heard about 6 shots … Kids started rushing down the hallway. It really happened so fast,” she told CNN news.”
This latest shooting will no doubt cause another merry-go-round of gun control mania in the media. It is hard to foresee a favorable solution for people on either side of this issue.
Reuters also says:
“There have been three separate shootings at schools and colleges in the United States in the past two weeks.”
This doesn’t include the one that happened today. The other three happened at Taft Union High School in Taft, California; Stevens Institute of Business and Arts in St. Louis, Missouri; and a community college in Eastern Kentucky.
Hopefully the coming weeks of 2013 will bring more peace and less bloodshed.
