You think she's glad she kept her gun?

With the liberals freaking out over additional gun control measures, one of the most ridiculous statements came from Democrat Sheila Jackson Lee. The congresswoman from Texas said that people should just come forward and turn in their guns. I bet she would certainly get the vote of the home invader who was recently shot in the face by a woman protecting her home and children.

Last month, Jackson Lee spoke out and said, "I would personally just say to those who are listening, maybe you want to turn in your guns." Just think of what might have happened if the 37-year-old mother of two had heeded Jackson Lee's advice.

As reported by The Atlanta Journal Constitution, the mother and her two children were at home on Friday, when they heard a knock on the door. The person at the door was persistent, and the mother sensed something was wrong. She called her husband while she and her children hid in the closet.

The intruder had forced his way into the three-story residence on Henderson Ridge Drive with a crowbar, authorities said. He allegedly rummaged through the home, eventually working his way up to the attic office.

“He opens the closet door and finds himself staring down the barrel of a .38 revolver,” said Walton County Sheriff Joe Chapman, who relayed the woman’s narrative to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He asked that her name be withheld.

The woman fired six bullets, five of which hit Paul Ali Slater in the face and neck area, Chapman said. But Slater was still conscious.

The husband, Donnie Herman, labeled his wife a hero. The newspaper reported that "one of his deputies, impressed with the woman’s resolve, told the sheriff she had handled her first shooting better than he had."

But is this story sweeping the nation? No. And as Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) noted in a press release, "there is virtually no coverage of self-defense uses every day."

"Press coverage of justifiable gun use in self-defense is almost invisible," said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb, "yet firearms are used in successful self-defense situations hundreds, if not thousands of times every day. It is disingenuous to talk about crime without mentioning the lives saved because an intended victim was armed.

"We know that hundreds of thousands of lives are saved in this country every year because someone had a firearm," he continued. "In most cases, a shot is never fired, but the display of a gun sends criminals running."

But Sheila Jackson Lee and other left wingers want to grab the guns. How do you think the mom would have done against the intruder? Do you think criminals are going to turn in their guns?

People on the left seem to get confused over why police officers carry guns. It's not to protect you. It's to protect themselves! They offer no protection at all until they are called and get on the scene. Luckily for this family, the mother didn't have to wait until police showed up, and we have one less criminal roaming the streets.
