A Balanced Budget in 10 Years
“There is a big debate that is happening on government spending and my plan the last two years hasn’t worked that well,” was the exact quote that Speaker Boehner told me on my show earlier this month, “We’re going to go broke if we don’t do something.” What we’re not remembering is that our deficit is expanding at record paces and it seems that we need to make bold moves to get Washington’s attention, we need bold action by the House. Congressman Boehner told me that he was as committed as ever to cutting spending and I believed him. Now, the question is, can he help Congressman Paul Ryan’s excellent budget proposal that will see a balanced budget within 10 years? Here’s to hoping.  For more on Congressman Ryan’s budget, click here.

Rand Paul on Immigration
After appearing on Hannity last night to discuss his CPAC straw poll victory, Kentucky Senator Rand Paul gave a speech to the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce this morning laying out more details of his plans on immigration reform. His speech was also timely, considering the RNC autopsy report released yesterday, pointing to the obvious GOP weakness in attracting minority voters. Senator Paul's plan does not call for national ID cards or mandatory e-verify, which he says causes "businesses to become policemen." One interesting point to note is that media reports throughout the day have been labeling this as, "Sen. Paul endorses path to citizenship for illegal immigrants." But if you read Rand Paul's speech, he never mentions a path to citizenship. For more on Rand Paul's stance on immigration please click here.
Growth and Opportunity Party?
The Republican National Committee today revealed an extensive report on the perception that Americans have of the Republican Party. It also includes strategies on how fix these misconceptions. The report has been three months in the making, with people at the RNC working to compile information based on focus group data, surveys, conference calls and meetings. I, for one, think this is a good first step. It's no secret that the Republicans have had trouble in recent years. When asked to describe the Republican Party, the report cites words such as "scary," "narrow minded," "out of touch" and "stuffy old men." Those words don't exactly paint the picture of a Party that excites voters or generates enthusiasm. So how did the GOP allow itself to get to this point and what does it need to do to overcome these perceptions? Those are two huge questions that this report attempts to tackle and they are important for the future of this c ountry. Find out more here

Today's "Hot Topic" From the Hannity Forums:
Get Off My Lawn - Posted by BasicGreatGuy
As kids, we often made fun of, and at times mocked the old man who yelled "get off my lawn." We didn't know, nor did we really care what his problem was. All we knew, was that the old man ruined our football game, game of war, or whatever it was we were up to. What political topics or moments in history, have you found yourself becoming that old man by yelling (real or metaphorically) "get off my lawn...." ?

Superbowl anti-gun ad, hope it backfires on them

PAT DOLLARD YOUNG AMERICANS 11 Hours Ago Bloomberg to Air Gun Control Ad During Superbowl Feb 2, 2013Toro520 Via The Associated Press: NEW YORK (Associated Press) – A gun control group founded by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is airing a Super Bowl advertisement calling for background checks. The 30-second spot by Mayors Against Illegal Guns will air in the Washington area during the game between the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers. The ad calls on lawmakers to pass rules requiring background checks on guns. It is narrated by children, with “America the Beautiful” playing in the background. It includes decades-old footage of National Rifle Association Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre saying the gun lobby group approves of the checks. LaPierre recently testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee that the NRA no longer supports background checks for all gun sales. A Bloomsberg spokesman would say only that the ad cost in the six-figure range....
