Government scourge of gun owners begins
by Anthony Martin

Citizens and some media outlets are reporting that the government scourge of gun owners, which gun rights activists have warned about, has begun.

In the state of California there have been widespread reports of illegal searches and seizures of firearms based upon nothing more than the fact that family members of gun owners have received psychiatric treatment.

In the days after the Newtown shootings in Connecticut, the president of the United States, Democrats in Congress and their elitist Republican enablers, and state and local governments indicated their intention to pass stringent gun control laws, including gun bans, limits on ammunition purchases, limits on how many rounds a magazine can hold, and a direct attack on the right of citizens to sell their own private property in citizen-to-citizen gun sales.

Conservatives, libertarians and other gun rights activists have warned that the forces of oppression and disarmament were banning together for an unprecedented push to rob citizens of their Second Amendment protections of the right to keep and bear firearms.

And now, in California at least, everything the so-called "alarmists" have warned about is actually happening.

Lynette Phillips is a resident of Upland, Calif. She had spent two days in a mental health facility in December of 2012. She and her husband David owned three guns, two of which were registered to him and the other to Lynette.

Recently, a media outlet reported that nine California law enforcement agents, each wearing bullet-proof vests and carrying 40-caliber Glock pistols, came knocking on the door of the Phillips home. They had no warrant. The agents asked if they could come into the home. Unfortunately, the Phillips coupled allowed them inside their home without a warrant.

When the agents left they were carrying all three of the guns owned by Lynette and her husband.

In California it is now perfectly legal for law enforcement to pull such stunts. Lynette, although she was legally entitled to buy a firearm at the time of the purchase, had been designated as a "prohibited person" by the state of California only because she had spend two days in a mental health facility.

Further, merely due to the fact that he is married to a prohibited person, David Phillips had both of his guns, which he owns legally, seized.

The attorney general of the state of California, a Democrat, informed Vice President Joe Biden who is leading Obama's task force on robbing citizens of Second Amendment protections that California would be a good model for the entire nation.

At present California is the only state in the nation that monitors gun owners to the point of designated them as "prohibited persons" for merely being given medical treatment at a mental health facility.

But the husband of the patient, David Phillips, is not a prohibited person. Yet his firearms were confiscated anyway.

Thus, the government scourge of gun owners, long predicted by watchdogs, has begun.
