Several large weapons dealers have refused to sell firearms to state or local governments that are pushing new gun control laws, but one small businessman has put the Gabby Giffords family on that list.

Doug MacKinlay, a gun dealer in Arizona, is refusing to a sell a rifle to Mark Kelly, the husband of former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, D-Ariz., because Kelly plans to use the purchase to argue for tighter gun control laws.

“While I support and respect Mark Kelly’s 2nd Amendment rights to purchase, possess, and use firearms in a safe and responsible manner, his recent statements to the media made it clear that his intent in purchasing the Sig Sauer M400 5.56mm rifle from us was for reasons other then for his personal use,” MacKinlay wrote on his Facebook page. “In light of this fact, I determined that it was in my company’s best interest to terminate this transaction prior to his returning to my store to complete the Federal From 4473 and NICS background check required of Mr. Kelly before he could take possession this firearm.”

MacKinlay’s decision came after Kelly referred to the ease with which he purchased the rifle to argue for banning assault weapons.

“Kelly couldn’t immediately take possession of the rifle because the shop had bought it from a customer,” Fox News explained. “As a result, the store is required by a Tucson ordinance to hold the gun for 20 days to give the city enough time to make sure the weapon wasn’t used in a crime.

Senators now have two days to read and digest it before a Wednesday vote. Sen. James Lankford (R-OK), the lead GOP negotiator, said the bill contains all the most vital reforms Republicans have demanded and called it a "once-in-a-generation opportunity to close our open border." "The bill provides funding to build the wall, increase technology at the border, and add more detention beds, more agents, and more deportation flights. The border security bil
