MSNBC HOST GOES OFF ON U.S. FOREIGN POLICY: 'ALL WE DO IS KILL ARABS ON INTERNATIONAL TELEVISION…THAT MIGHT HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH JIHAD'

MSNBC host Chris Matthews made it clear he opposes any U.S. intervention in Syria during his show on Thursday, saying "as long as Syrians are fighting Syrians, that's better than us fighting Syrians." He also argued that the United States is often too eager to intervene in Arab nations.

"All we do is kill Arabs on international television. We don't fight Africans, we don't fight Europeans. Who do we fight? Islamic people," Matthews said. "I think that might have something to do with jihad."

The host repeatedly insisted that it would be ill-advised for the U.S. to invade Syria to topple the regime of Syrian President Bashar al Assad, who has been accused by the White House of using chemical weapons. Matthews insinuated that the result could resemble that of the Iraq war.

"We watched this gory hanging, this absurd hanging of Saddam Hussein while these thugs went about this thing on television," Matthews said. "Because of us. We gave them the power to that."

Noting that he considers himself a "Vietnam-era guy," Matthews said he is "always suspicious" of U.S. intervention in foreign conflicts.
