Incredible Update on Boston Bombing
ITEM: BOSTON BOMBING UPDATE: The L.A Times reports that five days before two bombs tore through crowds at the Boston Marathon, an intelligence report identified the finish line of the race as an "area of increased vulnerability" and warned Boston police that extremists may use "small scale bombings" to attack spectators and runners at the event.
Let me translate: They knew exactly what was going to happen, where it was going to happen and when it was going to happen… so what happened?
The FBI has acknowledged that agents had interviewed Tamerlan Tsarnaev in 2011 but determined that he did not pose a threat. Customs agents were aware that Tsarnaev had traveled to Russia in 2012, but decided that he didn't require additional questioning when he returned to the U.S. later that year.
Let me translate: They knew who one of the bombers was, knew he was some sort of risk, and knew he went to a part of Russia known for terrorist recruiting and training – yet did not tell Boston Police any of it, including that the Russians had tipped them off about the brothers… so what happened?
The FBI also did not tell Homeland Security about what they knew of the brothers, the potential Boston Marathon threat, the Russian intelligence or Tsarnaev's trip and return from Russia. Local members of the Joint Terrorism Task Force, the first line of defense, were also not informed of what the FBI knew.
