Maryland: Governor Signs Sweeping Anti Gun Rights Bill into Law

Charlotte, NC --(Ammoland.com)- Last week, Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley (D) signed into law sweeping gun control legislation, Senate Bill 281.
Reported by NRA-ILA throughout the session here, S.B. 281 faced strong opposition by the people of Maryland throughout the legislative process. This sweeping anti-gun legislation will take effect on October 1, 2013.
Among other things, this new law will ban 45 specific types of commonly owned semiautomatic firearms, require future purchasers of handguns to obtain a license to do so, mandate reporting of lost or stolen firearms within an arbitrary time period, and institute a ban on the sale, manufacture, purchase or transfer of magazines capable of holding more than ten rounds of ammunition.
