Explosive New Revelations

More Explosive Surveillance Information Revealed
The Wall Street Journal reports that people familiar with the NSA operation say that data is also being seized from AT&T and Sprint users as well. Records from Internet-service and credit-card providers are also being seized. That leads to revelations that the NSA and the FBI have been tapping directly into the servers of nine of the largest internet companies in America. This government program, known as PRISM, collects data “directly from the servers of these U.S. Service Providers: Microsoft, Yahoo, Google, Facebook, PalTalk, AOL, Skype, YouTube, Apple,” according to the document obtained by the Washington Post. The kind of data being collected on you includes audio and video chats, photographs, e-mails, documents, and connection logs.

There seem to be two main arguments used to defend these shocking revelations. The first argument is that this is for national security purposes and the information is only used for such purposes. I'll admit, that's a very difficult line to draw: Should there ever be a point where we are willing to give up some of our civil liberties for the sake of our security? Is the argument of “national security” becoming an empty crutch by which big government is justifying its growing scope of power and rationalizing the erosion of our civil liberties? The second defense being used by many in Washington is that this information is nothing new and that this has been happening for many years. Well just because that's the case doesn't make it right. The fact is that this is news to millions of Americans. I doubt that is the legacy Barack Obama had in mind, but it is the one he apparently has secretly built for himself. Where Is The Main Stream Media?
In case you were worried, don't be.  The mainstream media will do its due diligence in playing down these various scandals, no doubt. Here's just one example from the Media Research Center: GMA Gives 5 Times the Coverage to Paris Jackson Than Obama Administration Collecting Phone Records. A population kept in the dark is less likely to question the government. Today Rand Paul is expected to introduce a bill – the “Fourth Amendment Restoration Act of 2013” – to reassert our Fourth Amendment rights, preventing our government from searching the records of Americans without a warrant based on probable cause. It's sad that we need such legislation but I'm thankful that Senator Paul is pushing it.

Jobs Report Fails To Impress
Today we received the latest jobs report for May 2013. The good news is that 175,000 Americans found jobs. The bad news is that our economy remains weak. The unemployment rate rose slightly to 7.6% because 420,000 came back into the labor force; More people are looking for jobs. However, the labor force participation rate is still at a 30-year low of 63.4%, and that is a decline of 0.4% from just a year ago. Predictably, what are the Democrats blaming this weak report on? Republicans and sequestration. Democratic National Committee communications director Brad Woodhouse tweeted: “175k jobs added is a solid number. Imagine what our economy would be doing if not for #GOPSequester, GOP refusal to make needed investments.” So predictable. So lame.

Superbowl anti-gun ad, hope it backfires on them

PAT DOLLARD YOUNG AMERICANS 11 Hours Ago Bloomberg to Air Gun Control Ad During Superbowl Feb 2, 2013Toro520 Via The Associated Press: NEW YORK (Associated Press) – A gun control group founded by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is airing a Super Bowl advertisement calling for background checks. The 30-second spot by Mayors Against Illegal Guns will air in the Washington area during the game between the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers. The ad calls on lawmakers to pass rules requiring background checks on guns. It is narrated by children, with “America the Beautiful” playing in the background. It includes decades-old footage of National Rifle Association Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre saying the gun lobby group approves of the checks. LaPierre recently testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee that the NRA no longer supports background checks for all gun sales. A Bloomsberg spokesman would say only that the ad cost in the six-figure range....
