Gun Owners Of America: Gun Control to Pass if Reid Changes Filibuster Rule
But the question raised by Gun Owners of America (GOA) is: how long will it be until gun control is heaved upon the American people if the filibuster is done away with?
It was a filibuster that put the Manchin/Toomey background check bill into the light long enough for Senators on both sides of the aisle to realize what was in it and reject it.The bill was defeated on April 17 because it fell six votes shy of 60. But if Reid is successful in changing the rules, then Senator Joe Manchin's (D-WV) gun control bill could "soon be brought up again and passed."
GOA contends that if Reid successfully drops the Senate threshold to end a filibuster from 60 votes to a simple majority of 51, then it might not be long until the bans pushed by Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and Chuck Schumer (D-NY) see the light of day as well. In a worst case scenario, it might also open the door to the unstoppable confirmation of an anti-gun Supreme Court justice who will reverse the Heller orMcDonalddecisions.
GOA asks everyone to contact their respective Senators and ask them to oppose Reid's attempt to change the Senate rules.
