Were Conservative Car Dealers Targeted For GM Closures? Guest host Deneen Borelli invited Rep. Mike Kelly (R-PA) onto the show to discuss whether certain GM dealership owners were targeted to close based on their political affiliations. Kelly Jim Renacci (OH-16) distributed a letter last week requesting Treasury Secretary Jack Lew to release documents detailing the process and methodology the Automotive Task Force used to shut down General Motors dealerships in 2009 during the automotive industry crisis. Rep. Kelly decided to run for Congress when it was announced that Obama's Automotive Task Force slated Wayland Chevrolet in Butler, Pennsylvania for closure. The dealership was started by Kelly's father in 1953. Now that it has been confirmed that the Treasury Department unfairly profiled conservatives around that time, the Congressmen are wondering if that could have been a factor in the selection of certain dealerships for closure. The IRS scandal "raises serious questions about past decisions made by the [ Treasury] Department regarding auto dealership closures that occurred in 2008 and 2009," reads the letter. "We formally request that the Treasury Department provide all e-mails, phone records, notes, memoranda, reports, and other communications regarding the decision-making process for dealership closures from the Automotive Task Force headed by Car Czars Steve Rattner and Ron Bloom." The letter also notes that while the Automotive Task Force claimed to have objectively evaluated each dealership, a Special Inspector General Report found that there was "little or no documentation" that proves objective criteria were used. "At the heart of this request," the letter concludes, "is the obligation we have to the American people to ensure that political profiling has not been a systemic issue within this administration." The Common Core is an education initiative that seeks to bring diverse state curricula into alignment with each other by following the principles of standards-based education reform. The Common Core State Standards Initiative (CCSSI) was launched in 2009 and the identities of the people drafting the "college- and career-readiness standards" were unknown to the public. CCSSI eventually revealed the names of the 24 members of the "Standards Development Work Group" in response to complaints from professional organizations and parent groups about the lack of transparency. What did this Work Group look like? Focusing only on ELA, the make-up of the Work Group was quite astonishing: It included no English professors or high-school English teachers. How could legitimate ELA standards be created without the very two groups of educators who know the most about what students should be and could be learning in secondary English classes? Who Will Replace Morsi If He Resigns? It pained Sean to say this, but he warned you that this would happen. Protests erupted once again in the streets of Cairo as millions of Egyptians demanded that President Mohamed Morsi step down. The violent demonstrations broke out on the first anniversary of his election. The headquarters of the Muslim Brotherhood was overtaken and ransacked. Mobs of people threw rocks and fire bombs at the building eventually making their way inside. Opponents claimed that Morsi has failed to tackle country's security and economic problems. They want him out, but he remains defiant. He is vowing not to give in and leave his post. Earlier, Egypt's military set a deadline for an agreement to be reached. They are giving Morsi two days to meet with what they call, "The people's demands." If it's not settled by then, the military says they will intervene. Let's keep in mind who President Morsi is and how the White House has backed him in recent months. For starters, Morsi is a 9/11 truther. He's referred to the Israelis as the descendents of apes and pigs. Back in March, Secretary of State John Kerry met face to face with Morsi. He announced that the U.S. would hand him over another $190 million in aid. That's chump change to the money we have already given. In 2013 alone, we are slated to give the regime in Cairo more than $1.6 billion.
