Piers Morgan Tells a Whopper
If you have the misfortune to be familiar with Piers Morgan, the British former tabloid "reporter" and "talent judge" known on this side of the Atlantic as CNN's most overbearing gun control proselytizer, you won't be surprised at what he did on Tuesday.
It began during an interview with military history expert A.W.R. Hawkins, as Morgan pushed his theory that more gun ownership leads to more crime. Hawkins disagreed, noting that Virginia had recently experienced a significant increase in gun ownership, followed by a significant decrease in violent crime.
The insufferable Morgan then counter-claimed that, according to the FBI, no less, Virginia had the highest murder rate in the United States in 2009. Morgan's statement would have been true only if 25 states had seceded in 2008, however, and according to the FBI's 2009 crime report, there were still 50 states in 2009 and Virginia ranked 26th among them in murder, with a rate 12 percent lower than the national rate.

Rumor Control: U.N. "Disarmament" Memo
As attacks on our Second Amendment rights continue, there is typically a corresponding uptick in the number of internet rumors concerning firearms, ammunition, and gun-control measures.
The latest rumor involves the United Nations, a group that indeed poses an ongoing potential threat to our Second Amendment rights. However, this rumor was highly suspect right from the start.Alabama Wildlife Group Honors NRA President with "Conservationist of the Year" Award
The Alabama Wildlife Federation recently held its AWF Governor's Conservation Achievement Awards banquet. These awards are the most respected conservation honors in the state of Alabama. Over the past 30 years, the AWF has presented these awards to individuals and organizations that make great contributions to the conservation of Alabama's wildlife and related natural resources.
D.C. Council Chair Targets Responsible Shooting Opportunities
Most anti-gun politicians who are quick to violate the rights of gun owners at least have the sense to grudgingly appreciate the contribution to the tax base made by in-state firearm manufacturers and related industries. This can be seen in the recent attempts of some Northeast states to hold onto firms that are looking to move South and West, and take the jobs they offer with them. With this in mind, D.C. City Council Chairman Phil Mendelson's attempt to admonish the D.C.-based company LivingSocial for merely offering organized events where alcohol could be consumed after a trip to a shooting range, borders on the bizarre.
Stop "Organizing for Action"--Take Your Own Action This Month
Organizing for Action (OFA), an organization dedicated to promoting President Obama's agenda and policies (and whose website includes an Obama campaign logo and whose URL is https://my.barackobama.com/page/s/organizing-for-action) is in the midst of its "Action August"--an advocacy initiative that includes "national action days" focused on issues that will include gun control.
According to a Politico article, the thrust of OFA's initiative will be to confront legislators who oppose Obama's agenda while they're in their home districts during the congressional recess and try to get them to change their positions.

PAT DOLLARD YOUNG AMERICANS 11 Hours Ago Bloomberg to Air Gun Control Ad During Superbowl Feb 2, 2013Toro520 Via The Associated Press: NEW YORK (Associated Press) – A gun control group founded by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is airing a Super Bowl advertisement calling for background checks. The 30-second spot by Mayors Against Illegal Guns will air in the Washington area during the game between the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers. The ad calls on lawmakers to pass rules requiring background checks on guns. It is narrated by children, with “America the Beautiful” playing in the background. It includes decades-old footage of National Rifle Association Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre saying the gun lobby group approves of the checks. LaPierre recently testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee that the NRA no longer supports background checks for all gun sales. A Bloomsberg spokesman would say only that the ad cost in the six-figure range....
