Right Angle | Right Hook | Right Opinion Patriot Headlines | Grassroots Commentary FOUNDER'S QUOTE DAILY "A republic, by which I mean a government in which the scheme of representation takes place, opens a different prospect and promises the cure for which we are seeking." --James Madison, letter to William Hunter, 1790 Patriots Storm WWII Memorial On Sunday, thousands of Patriots once again stormed the Barackaded World World II Memorial. The event was orchestrated in retaliation against Barack Obama's order to close this and other commemorative sites -- all to make the shutdown as painful as possible. The crowd chanted, "Tear down these walls!," and sung in harmony to "God Bless America." Veterans returned the favor by Barackading the White House. We couldn't think of a better response to Barack Obama's malfeasance. Comment | Share Arrest Warrant for O'care Navigator O'care and IRS officials promise to fully vet the personal information required of Americans signing up for government health insurance, but evidently the Obama administration doesn't pay very close attention to those they hire to administer such requests. Case in point: Rosilyn Wells of Lawrence, Kansas. The Daily Caller reports, "Wells was certified as an Obamacare navigator despite her financial history, which includes a bankruptcy in 2003, a 2007 civil charge from a local check cashing business called Midwest Checkrite for writing a bad check, and being more than $1700 behind on her state tax bill, and having an outstanding arrest warrant in nearby Shawnee County." With folks like this, what more could possibly go wrong? Comment | Share Healthcare.gov Launch a 'Disaster' Speaking with MSNBC Monday, Leftmedia columnist and Obama lapdog Ezra Klein admitted the launch of Healthcare.gov has been nothing short of a disaster. "The way this I.P. is going is a disaster," he told Morning Joe. "I really don't think people should soft pedal what a bad launch this is. They've done a terrible job on this website." If you think it's a disaster now, just wait until the health exchanges get going in 2014. Comment | Share Lady Liberty Opens Again The Statue of Liberty, another victim of Barack Obama's government shutdown theatrics, opened once again Sunday when New York moved to pay for it. The state estimates the cost at about $61,600 per day, and they plan to reopen Liberty Island National Park through Oct. 17. If no resolution on the shutdown is reached by then, the state will renegotiate. Governors in other states have also moved to reopen national parks after Obama spent money and resources blocking them off. Comment | Share Bidens Busy Vacationing VP Joe Biden and his family took a breather over the Columbus Day weekend, even as the House and Senate remain at a stalemate over budget negotiations with the debt ceiling quickly approaching. The trip included "'essential' government workers, who must work despite the government shutdown," reports The Weekly Standard. "That includes his Secret Service detail, as well as the Secret Service details assigned to the rest of his family, and other support staff. They are protecting the Bidens as they vacation -- but aren't getting paid because of the federal shutdown." Of course, Mr. Biden probably thought this was a 2-for-1 deal: There may be a government "shutdown," and taxpayers are still being forced to foot the bill for the Bidens' extravagant vacation, but at least the security's free. Comment | Share Food Stamp Glitch Causes Walmart Run Yet another "glitch" had Obama's constituents in an uproar in Louisiana over the weekend. A problem with the Electronic Benefits Transfer system -- food stamps -- allowed recipients to spend without limit. Walmart shelves in Springhill and Mansfield, Louisiana, were cleared out within hours when the stores permitted massive purchases anyway. "It was like a tornado had came through," said a man who took cell phone video. When cards began showing balances again, shopping carts were left full and abandoned all over the stores. These folks sure showed gratitude for all the tax dollars redistributed to them from working Americans. Next up: ObamaCare cards. Comment | Share Brown Vetoes Gun Laws, Signs Others California Democrat Gov. Jerry Brown vetoed a bill that would have greatly expanded the state's current draconian ban on "assault weapons" to include any rifle with a detachable magazine. This would have outlawed many hunting and sporting rifles, which almost made even an anti-gun nut like Brown sound reasonable: "I don't believe that this bill's blanket ban on semi-automatic rifles would reduce criminal activity or enhance public safety enough to warrant this infringement on gun owners' rights." Brown vetoed several others anti-gun laws, though he also signed a few, including, to "save the environment," a ban on lead ammunition. Of course, non-lead ammo is more expensive and often is considered "armor piercing," which the federal government may prohibit. Comment | Share Hickenlooper to Gun Control Groups: Back Off With The Vote Heard 'Round the Country, Col. Gov. John Hickenlooper and fellow Democrats quickly discovered that enacting draconian gun control laws was a bad idea. According to USA Today, Hickenlooper says it's "'probably not a bad idea' for gun-control groups ... to curb their efforts if gun-rights activists collect enough signatures to force a recall vote on state Sen. Evie Hudak..." If the recall effort is successful, Democrats face the possibility of losing their 18-17 majority in the state Senate. Comment | Share Detroit's Big Loan Detroit, Obama's city, recently filed for bankruptcy. However, the city just secured a $350 million loan, $230 million of which will go to service its pension debt. Lavish public employee benefits are, of course, one of the main reasons the city went bankrupt -- the other major reason being that 50 years of Democrat rule drove out the tax-paying population. To secure the loan, the city is relying on pledges of casino and income tax revenue, as well as liquidation of $10 million in assets. The Motor City's problems aren't solved, but this will allow it to survive a while longer. Comment | Share Obama Gives Fake 'Artifact' to Iran The Obama administration recently gave a $1,000,000 gift to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani. The State Department called it a "7th century BC silver griffin-shaped ceremonial drinking vessel" which was most likely "looted from a cave in northwestern Iran." Archaeologists, however, believe this "special gift" is a fake. "Not only is it a fake, it's a bad fake," says archaeologist Alex Joffe, who says the supposedly millennia-old cup is actually just 14 years old. Administration officials were reportedly unable to find the receipt from QVC. But of course, the biggest fake in this transaction is Obama. Comment | Share Semper Vigilo, Fortis, Paratus et Fidelis!
