FOUNDER'S QUOTE DAILY

"In framing a government which is to be administered by men over men, the great difficulty lies in this: you must first enable the government to control the governed; and in the next place, oblige it to control itself." --James Madison, Federalist No. 51

Admin Tells Insurer: Keep Quiet

If you need any indication of just how embarrassed the Obama administration is regarding O'care enrollment numbers, consider this disclosure from reporter Kyle Potter: "The Obama administration asked North Dakota's largest health insurer not to publicize how many people have signed up for health insurance through a new online exchange, a company official says." Potter reveals that "During a Monday forum in Fargo for people interested in signing up for coverage via the exchange, James Nichol of Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota told the crowd his company received the request from the federal government earlier Monday." And for good reason: BCBS spokeswoman Andrea Dinneen shed some light on the figures anyway, saying that only 14 state residents had successfully enrolled since October 1. Press Secretary Jay Carney has repeatedly said that HHS officials will release enrollment figures soon -- as soon as it's politically convenient, that is.

Your Insurance Terminated

Hundreds of thousands of Americans across the country are getting cancellation notices from various insurers because their plans don't meet O'care requirements. According to Kaiser Health News, "Florida Blue ... is terminating about 300,000 policies, about 80 percent of its individual policies in the state. Kaiser Permanente in California has sent notices to 160,000 people -- about half of its individual business in the state. Insurer Highmark in Pittsburgh is dropping about 20 percent of its individual market customers, while Independence Blue Cross, the major insurer in Philadelphia, is dropping about 45 percent." Consequently, "the cancellation notices ... have shocked many consumers in light of President Barack Obama's promise that people could keep their plans if they liked them." You get what you vote for -- in Obama's case, empty rhetoric.

O'Care Prices 'Incredibly Misleading'

"CBS News has uncovered a serious pricing problem with Healthcare.gov." Uh oh. CBS says that the administration's new "shop and browse" feature sometimes causes customers to pay double the price they see for insurance on the website. The reason is that all comers are divided into two groups: 49 or under and 50 or over. CBS notes, "Prices for everyone in the 49-or-under group are based on what a 27-year-old would pay. In the 50-or-older group, prices are based on what a 50-year-old would pay." Therefore, unless you're 27 or 50, your estimate could be drastically understated. Who knew Hope™ would cost this much.

Cracks in the Demo Ranks

The list of Demos who are starting to see the political implications of ObamaCare, is growing. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, D-N.H., had some harsh words for Obama this week: "For over three years, we have been waiting for the creation of the health insurance exchanges, which now in their fourth week of existence, are riddled with problems."

BO Fellow on Fail

Clay Johnson, Obama's former Presidential Innovation Fellow had this to say about the rollout debacle: "Healthcare.gov wasn't going to go the way that everyone wanted. If you look at the history of federal IT projects, they almost always result in failure." Well, apparently the NSA's systems are working well!

IRS Delays Tax Returns?

The IRS says it will delay processing tax returns and refunds for at least two weeks, and claims its the government slowdown. The agency says the partial shutdown came at a time when "the majority of the work" updating its systems occurs. We're sure the real reason is that they need more time to hone their Tea Party targeting skills ahead of next year's election.

The Real Jobs Report

In 2009, Barack Obama promised the unemployment rate would be 5% by this point in 2013 if Congress would only approve his "stimulus" package. The law passed, yet four years later the economic progress is anything but rosy. Another dismal jobs report reveals that unemployment in September is 7.2%, down a mere 0.1% from August -- a revelation the White House called "good news" (haven't we heard that before?). Lost in the shadow is this incredible statistic: A record 90,609,000 Americans are no longer in the labor force, almost entirely accounting for the "drop" in unemployment. Some perspective: 130,000 additional workers enter the work force every month, yet September as a whole netted 148,000 jobs -- barely enough to cover those entering the market. This time around, the Obama administration blames the pathetic numbers on the partial government "shutdown," but the report might as well be a copy/paste from every other economic report we've encountered since Obama's takeover.

Finally, Admin Official Fired

The Daily Caller's Jim Treacher: "So, you got one of our ambassadors killed and then lied outrageously about it because there was an election coming up? Not to worry. Oh, you ran guns to Mexican drug cartels and one of them was used to murder an ATF agent? No problemo. You spied on Americans? Punished Tea Partiers with tax audits? Wasted huge piles of taxpayer cash on green-energy boondoggles? Completely botched Obama's signature 'health care' law and drove him to an astonishing new low of dishonesty and delusion? It's all good. You said bad things about Valerie Jarrett on Twitter? Clean out your (redacted) desk." You can screw with everyone else in the country that disagrees with Barack Obama, but don't mess with Valerie!

Senators now have two days to read and digest it before a Wednesday vote. Sen.
