Right Analysis | Right Hook | Right Opinion Patriot Headlines | Grassroots Commentary FOUNDER'S QUOTE DAILY "Of those men who have overturned the liberties of republics, the greatest number have begun their career by paying an obsequious court to the people, commencing demagogues and ending tyrants." –Alexander Hamilton, Federalist No. 1, 1787 Felons for O'Care Speaking before the Senate Finance Committee, HHS Sec. Kathleen Sebelius admitted Wednesday that federal law doesn't prevent convicted felons from working as O'Care navigators. Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX): "Isn't it true that there is no federal requirement for navigators to undergo a criminal background check, even though they will receive ... sensitive personal information from the individuals they help sign-up for the Affordable Care Act?" Sebelius: "That is true. States could add an additional background checks and other features, but it is not part of the federal requirement." Cornyn: "So a convicted felon could be a navigator and could acquire sensitive personal information?" Sebelius: "That is possible. We have contracts with the organizations and they have taken the responsibility to screen their individual navigators and make sure that they are sufficiently trained for the job." Now that we're finding out what's in it, this law just keeps getting better and better... Small Biz Next O'Care Victim Writing in Forbes, Dr. Scott Gottlieb warns that millions of small businesses will soon fall victim to O'Care's wrath. Like the millions of individuals currently receiving insurance cancelation notices, "Very soon, small businesses will be faced with a similar fate," he writes. "Starting in October 2014, many employees of small businesses will start getting the same notices that are now being mailed to individuals, informing that their existing health plans are also being canceled." This is Obama's fundamental goal -- to break the back of free enterprise. GOP Leadership -- Wake Up! Matt Kibbe, CEO of FreedomWorks, on the new political paradigm: "You're really seeing a disintermediation in politics... Grass-roots activists have an ability to self-organize, to fund candidates they're more interested in, going right around the Republican National Committee and senatorial committee. That's the new reality. Everything's more democratized and Republicans should come to terms with that. They still want to control things from the top down, and if they do that there will absolutely be a split. But my prediction would be that we take over the Republican Party, and they go the way of the Whigs." Gerson on Tea v. GOP Gerson, who falls into what we would categorize as "moderate," offers some useful observations about all the Tea v. GOP infighting: "The Obama era has unleashed a great deal of genuine populist and libertarian energy. But a good portion of it is being channeled into business and fundraising models that depend on stoking resentment against the GOP itself. The result is a paradox. Over the past few decades, Republican members of Congress have become more reliably conservative. This means that 'Tea Party' conservatives are revolting against a more uniformly conservative party. The RINOs they hunt are actually an endangered species. So they have transformed tactical disagreements -- over, say, a hopeless attempt to defund Obamacare -- into defining ideological struggles." Kerry Snubs Israel Secretary of State John Kerry spoke about Israeli settlements, saying, "Let me emphasize at this point the position of the United States of America on the settlements is that we consider them ... to be illegitimate." The Israelis have been establishing the settlements as part of their own security strategy, but Kerry says its having a negative effect on those forever-ongoing "peace" talks with the Palestinians. Also this week, Kerry announced another $75 million gift to the Palestinians for "building roads and schools." But not to worry, says Kerry, "There are always difficulties, always tensions." Well then, award him the Nobel Peace Prize! O'Care Site Up and Running Despite rumors to the contrary, the ObamaCare website is ready and waiting for your application! This interactive map illustrates how the so-called "Affordable Care Act" will alter health insurance premiums, state by state, for people who buy their own coverage. HHS Website Wisdom When HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius visited Tennessee recently on a "dog and pony" promotional tour for Healthcare.gov, she received a photo-op gift from Republican state senator Brian Kelsey -- a copy of "Websites for Dummies." Nice move Brian! Check out the photo. Government Does a Great Job! Sen. Michael Bennet (D-CO) had this to say about Obama's assertion that government can manage the nation's healthcare: "Government does not do a great job with procurement, with IT or with customer service and I think we're saying that here in spades." Actually, it's not that "Government does not do a great job," it's that "Government does not" manage anything well. Bigfoot v. O'Care Former Senator Fred Thompson says, "A new poll shows that more people believe in Bigfoot than believe the Obamacare rollout has gone well. Well, there HAVE been more Bigfoot sightings than successful enrollees." Semper Vigilo, Fortis, Paratus et Fidelis!
