Gun Owners crush Bloomberg Stooges -- HB 1589 is dead, but action still needed on SB 244

Friday, 14 February 2014 20:17 Written by Gun Owners

On Wednesday, New Hampshire's "Live Free or Die" commitment to liberty was on full display.

Gun owners won a tremendous victory against a formidable opponent, who thought New Hampshire would be an "easy hit."

The Bloomberg stooges came striding into the state, with their gun control registration scheme that was drafted in Washington and New York.

They came with their out-of-state "props" -- fresh from states that were already beginning to confiscate large numbers of firearms.

They came with Billionaire Michael Bloomberg's open wallet -- ready to spend whatever was necessary to buy the Granite State.

They came, convinced that Concord would be the scene of the next press conference in which they bragged about "crushing" the "gun lobby."

Well, on Wednesday, the Bloombergistas left New Hampshire with their tails between their legs, as HB 1589 went down to defeat.

After an hour-and-a-half of parliamentary maneuvering, the Democrat-controlled New Hampshire House, by a 242-118 vote, declared Bloomberg's universal registration scheme "inexpedient to legislate."

Congratulations! You deserve to celebrate this well-deserved victory that came exclusively as a result of your activism.

But the battle is not quite over: The Republican-controlled New Hampshire Senate is still trying to decide what to do with Senate Bill 244.

This anti-gun legislation could impose gun bans on large numbers of Granite Staters with PTSD, ADHD, Alzheimer's, or even a prescription to anxiety-reducing medication.

Already, over 150,000 veterans have lost their gun rights as a result of procedures similar to the star-chamber-type proceedings which are regularly used to commit and appoint guardians for New Hampshire residents.

Senate Bill 244 would automatically impose gun bans on all of these law-abiding Americans.

recent article in the Union Leader describes the abuse of procedures which would be expanded under S.B. 244. Please take a minute to read it, and then forward it to your state senators.

ACTION: It is a time to celebrate your great victory. But we can't let up. Please take the time to contact your state senator and demand that he kill gun control pending in the Senate.

HOW TO CONTACT-WRITE YOUR STATE SENATORS:

Simply identify your state senator, click on their email addresses and then copy-n-paste the message below.

----- Pre-written letter -----

Dear Senator:

Fortunately, the House has killed Bloomberg-drafted anti-gun legislation on Wednesday.

But there is similar anti-gun legislation in the Senate that needs to be defeated. Senate Bill 244 is an anti-gun bill that could impose gun bans on large numbers of Granite Staters with PTSD, ADHD, Alzheimer's, or even a prescription to anxiety-reducing medication.

A recent article in the Union Leader describes the abuse of procedures which would be expanded under S.B. 244. Please take a minute to read it at www.gunowners.org/oped2142014ab.htm

Again, please oppose S.B. 244.

Sincerely,
