Cornyn: GOP must extend Social Security to illegals
(Texas Republican News) WASHINGTON -- A bill sponsored by U.S. Sen. John Cornyn would have extended Social Security numbers to illegals, a position Cornyn still supports.
Cornyn's S.1348, "Comprehensive Enforcement and Immigration Reform Act of 2005" would have given illegal aliens five years of amnesty and a Social Security number.
Not only has Cornyn refused to renounce his support for extending Social Security to illegals, Cornyn has stepped up his campaign to pass amnesty if he wins the Republican primary.
Cornyn's support for amnesty was rewarded with a $2 million personal check from Robert Perry, a Houston-area billionaire and outspoken supporter of amnesty for illegals.
The amnesty advocate is also a $185,000.00 personal donor to Cornyn. His $2 million personal check is being used to run ads attacking conservative Republican U.S. Congressman Steve Stockman, Cornyn's opponent in the March 4 primary and rated 100% pro-border security by conservative groups.
Cornyn tells National Journal, a Capitol Hill magazine, that Republicans must join him in supporting amnesty for illegals.
“We can't win in 2016 without resolving it,” Cornyn told National Journal Jan. 17, 2014.
Cornyn has backed up those words, joining Democrats to support President Barack Obama's amnesty plan.
Cornyn voted twice in 2013 to advance Obama’s amnesty scheme for illegals (Source: RCVs 146 & 147, 2013.)
On June 11, 2013 Cornyn voted with Democrats to kill a Republican filibuster of Reid’s amnesty plan after Reid assured him Democrats had the votes to pass it. (RCV 146)
After thwarting Republicans, Cornyn then voted with Democrats to proceed to a vote to pass the plan in the Senate (RCV 147.)
Cornyn also voted with Democrats to kill a Republican amendment to end the “Z Visa” program (Vitter Amdt. No. 1157 to S1348 5/24/2007.)
"Z Visas" are awarded to illegal aliens currently in the United States, allowing them to work and travel freely.
Cornyn's vote helped Democrats continue the illegal alien amnesty program.
Cornyn also voted with Democrats to kill a Republican amendment to fund and complete the border fence (2006 RCV 200.)
