| ArmaLite literally put the "AR" in AR-15. Many people don't realize that Eugene Stoner was working for ArmaLite when he developed the rifle. They also don't realize that "AR" stands for ArmaLite Rifle. The company literally invented the rifle, and everything after it has simply been a copy. Also, Mr. Stoner originally intended for the rifle to be chambered in 7.62mm NATO/.308 Winchester.
