Rep. Rodney Davis to Deliver First Weekly Republican Address of 2015
WASHINGTON, DC – House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) has selected Rep. Rodney Davis (R-IL) to deliver the first Weekly Republican Address of 2015. Speaking from Springfield, the capital of Illinois, Rep. Davis will discuss the new Congress's focus on jobs and opportunity, including his bipartisan legislation to help small businesses hire more of America's veterans.
"I am honored to deliver the first Republican address of the New Year from Springfield, Illinois, home and resting place of Abraham Lincoln," Rep. Davis said. "My message will echo that of President Lincoln, 'government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.' Next week Congress will begin a new session and with this comes another opportunity to govern on behalf of the American people and advance solutions that promote growth and job creation such as my bill, the Hire More Heroes Act, which helps small businesses hire more of our veterans."
Speaker Boehner and Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) have pointed to the Hire More Heroes Act as an example of bipartisan legislation that will serve as a starting point for the new American Congress's focus on jobs and growth.
