White man asks the son of Cuban immigrants if he is Cuban enough
Mary Katharine Ham , in one of the very best single questions ever asked, proved herself to be very forward-thinking when she asked "WHAT IS THE POINT OF YOU, MARK HALPERIN?" To this day, no one can answer this question, but we all find ourselves asking it once again.

(If awkward racial conversations trigger you, do not play this clip.)

Draw Mohammed
I don't want Saturday Night Live that much any more, but I'm glad I tuned in last night. I caught the "Draw Mohammed" skit and it perfect captured the media's hilarious refusal to deal with the issue. They're scared.

The Right Scoop caught the video. It is hilariously done.

As I noted Friday, "History shows us over and over that the moment evil realizes you are scared of provoking it, you have provoked it into action."

GOP Failure Theater: the Iran nuclear vote, Cruz-Rubio edition
Failure Theater. When the GOP talks a good game about opposing Obama's policies but, in fact, vote to go along with them.

The other day, the US Senate voted 98-1 to go along with whatever Barack Obama decides to give to Iran.

My moment of candor
Were it me, I would not engage in the style of publicity and antics Pamela Geller and her organization engaged it. I take to heart Proverbs 3:34 that "He mocks proud mockers but shows favor to the humble and oppressed." I also take the golden rule to heart. I appreciate the point Martha McCallum and Franklin Graham made. Just because we have the right, does not mean we should use it. I agree with them both and I hate to see them getting flack for the position I share with them. In my opinion, and it is just my opinion, I think there are ways to accomplish the mission of exposing Jihad without resorting to what amounts to hyperbole. I don't want people to treat Jesus that way, so I'm not sure we should treat Mohammed that way. Now here is my but. . . .

White Democratic party declares war on Black Democratic party. And, oh, yeah, the GOP
This is an unintentionally entertaining piece: "Top Democratic attorneys are arguing before state and federal courts that district maps drawn in a handful of states violate the Voting Rights Act by improperly packing African American voters into a small number of districts, limiting their influence." Mostly because that was one of two times where the phrase 'African American' was used (the other was "The U.S. Supreme Court in March ordered a lower court to consider whether Alabama's legislature similarly packed African American voters into state legislative districts to minimize their influence[*]"). This is an issue because there were so many other opportunities for Reid Wilson to use the term 'African American…'

False gods, acquiescence, and Garland, Texas
I intend for this to be my last post on Pam Geller and the Garland shootings unless something else happens. Many have said that my motto is "often wrong but never in doubt" but now I am developing some doubts about my position as articulated here: Geller had the right to do what she did, she's not to blame, but I wouldn't have done it.

My change of view comes in two parts.

Foiled Again! UAW fails (for now) to strip VW employees of secret-ballot election
Given their very public (and political) push for the hallucinogenically-devised scheme known as "card check," if unions had their way, employees' right to vote in secret-ballot elections on whether or not to be unionized would be eliminated. Although card check failed as a matter of public policy several years ago, unions still often try to push their way into companies without employees voting on the matter. Such is the case of the United Auto Workers (UAW) at Volkswagen in Chattanooga, TN, this week.

Netflix goes cronyist
So the US Congress is debating whether to renew the part of the USA PATRIOT act that ensures NSA can watch the communications of foreign terror cells that set up shop in the US, and communicate back home with their terror networks. That's a good debate to have. We need to debate legislation before passing it.

Well, now an judge is trying to short circuit that.

Ed Miliband's Stone Plinth is Missing
Just in case you thought that America had a monopoly on Stupid Political Tricks… the pledge stone was this tablet of stone with a bunch of utterly forgettable Labour slogans inscribed on it. They were gonna put in… the Prime Minister's garden, I guess… once Labour won; only, Labour lost. And by 'lost' I mean 'the Tories won a majority, and the SNP is now wearing Labour's intestines as a hat.' And nobody knows where the Stone is. The British are quite keen to find out, mind you: there are awkward questions ahead about whether the stone was made out of proper British stone, whether it was stone at all, who did the lettering, who approved this daft notion and are they getting competent medical attention, that sort of thing. But that's not the important thing.

Follow us on Twitter View this as website BY JAMIE MCINTYRE ADVERTISEMENT FROM 'CATCH AND RELEASE' TO 'DETAIN AND DEPORT': After months of hard-nosed negotiation behind closed doors in the Senate, the text of a compromise $118 billion national security supplemental budget bill, which includes major concessions from the Democrats on border security and desperately needed aid for Ukraine, was released last night. Senators now have two days to read and digest it before a Wednesday vote. Sen. James Lankford (R-OK), the lead GOP negotiator, said the bill contains all the most vital reforms Republicans have demanded and called it a "once-in-a-generation opportunity to close our open border." "The bill provides funding to build the wall, increase technology at the border, and add more detention beds, more agents, and more deportation flights. The border security bil
