President Trump tweets Heritage speech

What a tremendous speech Trump gave at our annual President's Club Meeting two nights ago. I know so many of our members who were there or listening felt encouraged and reinvigorated for the fight ahead.

President Trump not only tweeted about his speech at Heritage but his team created this inspiring video about why The Heritage Foundation is vital to making America great again. I think you will find the video powerful and moving.

Transcript: It's an incredible honor to be here tonight to celebrate this really wonderful foundation. Just a few months from now you will mark the 45th anniversary of this esteemed institution. As Americans we have inherited a special legacy of freedom culture, laws, and values. Your organization is named The Heritage Foundation because you understand that our glorious heritage is the foundation of everything we hope to achieve. You understand that human progress must be built upon a firm foundation of timeless truths and the most important truth that our founders understood was this: Freedom is not a gift from government. Freedom is a gift from God.

Thank you for your commitment to the conservative principles that built this great nation.

The 30-second spot by Mayors Against Illegal Guns will air in the Washington area during the game between the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers. The ad calls on lawmakers to pass rules requiring background checks on guns. It is narrated by children, with “America the Beautiful” playing in the background. It includes decades-old footage of National Rifle Association Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre saying the gun lobby group approves of the checks. LaPierre recently testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee that the NRA no longer supports background checks for all gun sales.
