The Washington Field Division is responsible for ATF criminal enforcement and industry regulatory activities in the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Virginia, and seven counties in the panhandle of West Virginia. This field division is home to one of the most successful Violent Crime Impact Teams (VCIT) in the country. New Press Release – Armed Robber Sentenced to 33 Years in Prison

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – A Newport News man was sentenced today to 33 years in prison for conspiring to rob five Tidewater businesses at gun-point. Olandjuwan Beale, 21, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to interfere with commerce by robbery, and two counts of possession, use and brandishing a firearm in crime of violence on August 3. According to court documents, Beale and two co-defendants planned and executed five commercial robberies in Newport News and Hampton, using firearms in each, over a 10-hour period on March 6, robbing a Newport News 7-Eleven, 1st Stop Mart, Luckie's Convenience Store and Mary's Deli and Convenience Store, as well as a 1st Stop Mart in Hampton. In each robbery, Beale approached the clerks and ordered them to provide cash.

PAT DOLLARD YOUNG AMERICANS 11 Hours Ago Bloomberg to Air Gun Control Ad During Superbowl Feb 2, 2013Toro520 Via The Associated Press: NEW YORK (Associated Press) – A gun control group founded by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is airing a Super Bowl advertisement calling for background checks. The 30-second spot by Mayors Against Illegal Guns will air in the Washington area during the game between the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers. The ad calls on lawmakers to pass rules requiring background checks on guns. It is narrated by children, with “America the Beautiful” playing in the background. It includes decades-old footage of National Rifle Association Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre saying the gun lobby group approves of the checks. LaPierre recently testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee that the NRA no longer supports background checks for all gun sales. A Bloomsberg spokesman would say only that the ad cost in the six-figure range....
