GOA on the Front Lines-- Brief bullet items from the Executive Director's DeskDear Hoax, There's a lot of good things that have been happening within the gun community, and so I want to bring you up to speed. But first, I want to thank you, once again, for being a part of GOA's massive grassroots army. We are currently more than two million strong -- and you're loud voice has made a world of difference on Capitol Hill in our nation's capital. Speaking of activism, you will notice a different way to take action in future emails -- differences that will make it much easier for you contact your elected officials. But I wanted to tell you now, so that it doesn't take you by surprise when we roll out those changes. That being said, here are the good news items that Gun Owners of America has been involved with recently. GOA brief going before the Supreme Court! Last week, the Supreme Court voted to hear a case pushed by Gun Owners of America and Gun Owners Foundation. This case challenges New York City’s near-prohibition on possessing or transporting handguns and is the first major Second Amendment challenge to be reviewed by the Supreme Court in almost a decade. You can read the PDF of GOA’s amicus brief here. GOA wins a “mini victory” over ATF in bump stock case. The ATF tried to put a hold on GOA’s bump stock case, using the government shutdown as an excuse. But GOA went before the judge and objected strenuously. Thankfully, the judge ruled in our favor, giving GOA a first round mini-victory. See the video here. The Truth About Guns lauds GOA’s lobbying in Congress. As Congress returned to work for the new session, The Truth About Guns (TTAG) was reporting on GOA’s actions on Capitol Hill. “It’s good to see GOA already out there roaming the halls of Congress, using up shoe leather as they fight to preserve and extend our Second Amendment rights,” says reporter Luis Valdes of TTAG. Check out the full story here. Mount Rushmore Joins the Constitutional Carry Club! Kudos to Gov. Kristi Noem for signing GOA-backed legislation that allows citizens to carry concealed without seeking prior permission from the government. South Dakota now becomes the 15th permitless carry state. GOA is grateful to all the activists who took action in this fight. Click here to read GOA’s press release on this important victory. Did you see GOA’s Year in Review for 2018? As the President prepares to give the State of the Union address in the near future, it’s a good time to reflect on the State of the Second Amendment. Of course, to listen to the mainstream media, one would think there was only bad news for gun owners in 2018. But that’s not the case, as GOA’s year-in-review shows. Check it out here.
