John Hickenlooper bills himself as the experienced, consensus-building Democrat in the 2020 presidential race, one who has successfully tackled divisive issues like gun control.   LEGAL & LEGISLATION Maine: Anti-Gun Bill Threatens Equal Protection of Right-to-Carry On April 22nd, the Maine State and Local Government Committee will hold a hearing on Legislative Document 1470.  LD 1470 would weaken Maine's preemption laws to allow local municipalities to create a patchwork of laws, including prohibitions on where law abiding citizens may carry.   INDYSTAR.COM Mike Pence to join Donald Trump at NRA convention in Indianapolis The list of speakers for this month's National Rifle Association convention in Indianapolis has grown a bit longer: Vice President Mike Pence will return to Indiana to speak at the event, the NRA announced Wednesday. The former Indiana governor will speak April 26 at a leadership forum with the NRA Institute for Legislative Action. President Donald Trump is also scheduled to speak at the convention, which is scheduled for April 26-28.
