Ralph Northam's gun control proposals:    NEWS   Governor Northam to Convene Special Session on Gun Control July 9th! Embattled Virginia Governor Ralph Northam has announced that he will convene a special session of the General Assembly on July 9 in order to push a wide-ranging package of radical and ineffective gun control proposals.   NEWS   Does a Suppressed Pistol Sound like a Nail Gun? In response to reports that the Virginia Beach shooter used a firearm suppressor in carrying out his terrible crime, David Chipman, Senior Policy Advisor for the Giffords gun control group, claimed that a suppressed pistol is especially dangerous because the noise associated with the firearm is difficult to distinguish from a nail gun. As per usual for claims Chipman and his employer make about firearm suppressors, this is false.    NEWS   Embattled Governor Northam Pushing Magazine Ban! Virginia Governor Ralph Northam has announced that he will convene a special session of the state legislature in order to push a package of radical gun control legislation. Early reports state that the package will include a ban on the standard capacity firearm magazines used by tens of millions of law-abiding gun owners. The details of Northam's plan have yet to be released, but such bans in other states and the failed federal ban have often targeted magazines with a capacity greater than 10 rounds. There are hundreds of millions of magazines with a capacity greater than 10 rounds that are lawfully-possessed and lawfully used every day in the U.S.   NEWS   Bloomberg Week Four: Policies Anti-Gunners Hate We've reached week four in the Bloomberg School of Public Health open online course, "Reducing Gun Violence in America: Evidence for Change."   NEWS   NRA Supported Case Calls for Suspension of Illinois's FOID Act An NRA-supported case in Illinois is asking the Illinois Supreme Court to suspend the state's Firearm Owner's Identification (FOID) Act.    NEWS   NRA Applauds Challenge to Colorado's Unconstitutional Magazine Ban NRA applauds CSSA for filing an amicus brief in support of a challenge to Colorado's unconstitutional ban on common rifle and pistol magazines.   TAKE ACTION   Grassroots Spotlight: NRA Collegiate Coalition at Western Michigan University The NRA Collegiate Coalition at Western Michigan University recently wrapped up another stellar year on campus in support of the Second Amendment. The group, founded in 2017 by Grant Van Dorn and Cory Gardner, provides a unique and special opportunity for students. The group was started with the goal of providing a place for student Second Amendment advocates to gather on campus to discuss ongoing issues surrounding firearms and the shooting sports, but also to provide a casual and inclusive environment to welcome others to come learn more about NRA, the Second Amendment, and the gun debate.   NEWS  HUNTING   The Hardest Thing of All to Explain About Hunting The big black bear came in under the shade of pines.
