Congressional Dems Push to Require a License to Exercise Fundamental, Constitutional Right external site
Democrats on Capitol Hill have debuted a proposal to help mandate that those who want a handgun first be approved for a permit. The legislation, backed by Dems in both the House and Senate, would encourage more states to adopt licensing schemes like Connecticut's handgun purchasing law, which requires a special renewable permit to purchase any revolver or pistol. Dubbed the Handgun Purchaser Licensing Act, the bill was introduced by U.S. Sen. Chris Van Hollen of Maryland and Senators Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy of Connecticut along with U.S. Reps. Jahana Hayes, D-Conn and Jamie Raskin, D-Md.

NATIONAL REVIEW
The Worst Advice Column Ever Written? external site
From Live Well Nebraska comes the most amusingly hysterical and extraordinarily ignorant advice column I have read in a long while. It consists of a question, posed by a man writing as "Dumbfounded Father," and a response, offered by "syndicated columnist" Amy Dickinson. At no point in the exchange does either person range within a country mile of reality.

I wish the gay community were more accepting of gun supporters. I should know.

I wish the gay community were more accepting of gun supporters. I should know. external site
Last June, I attended my first Pride parade. I'm a 24-year-old gay man, and the downtown D.C. event came two months after I started my new job as social media manager for the National Rifle Association. The District, where I live, is a liberal city. Gay people are embraced; guns are not. You don't have to see how the District votes to know that. You can tell by the signs in people's yards and the bumper stickers on their cars. The gay community is largely anti-gun, too.

Follow us on Twitter View this as website BY JAMIE MCINTYRE ADVERTISEMENT FROM 'CATCH AND RELEASE' TO 'DETAIN AND DEPORT': After months of hard-nosed negotiation behind closed doors in the Senate, the text of a compromise $118 billion national security supplemental budget bill, which includes major concessions from the Democrats on border security and desperately needed aid for Ukraine, was released last night. Senators now have two days to read and digest it before a Wednesday vote. Sen. James Lankford (R-OK), the lead GOP negotiator, said the bill contains all the most vital reforms Republicans have demanded and called it a "once-in-a-generation opportunity to close our open border." "The bill provides funding to build the wall, increase technology at the border, and add more detention beds, more agents, and more deportation flights. The border security bil
