What we’re fighting for

Dear Fellow Conservative,

A few days ago, I e-mailed you to tell you about an exciting $5.3 million matching challenge issued by some members of The Heritage Foundation's Board of Trustees.

They're asking friends like you to pool your resources to match their level of generosity because for everything we've accomplished in the last two and a half years, there is still much more to do.

Specifically, our priorities for 2019 and beyond include:

  • Immigration – We must secure our borders! The Heritage Foundation believes U.S. immigration policy reform needs to be a step-by-step process that solves one issue at a time. We want to see distinct legislative proposals that can be discussed, debated, and passed on their own merits. We have those proposals and are sharing them widely.

  • Health care --"Medicare for All" is the new battle cry of liberals like Sen. Bernie Sanders and Sen. Kamala Harris. If we conservatives don't act decisively and act now, our failure will clear the way for total government control over your health care, from cradle to grave!

  • Election integrity -- Now that liberals control the House, it's going to be even harder to keep American elections valid and fair. In the coming year, Heritage's legal team will need to use reports, legal memoranda, testimony before Congress, and meetings with state and federal policymakers to help stop the radical left from corrupting our elections.

  • Federal spending – Spending is simply out of control. We all want to "drain the swamp," and it's not as easy as simply pulling a plug. Heritage will oppose the suspension of the federal debt limit -- ending blank checks for Congress to spend as much as they want. The Heritage Foundation is putting our full weight behind passing a Balanced Budget Amendment – an idea that's long overdue!

The new liberal Congress isn't letting up on its radical socialist
priorities -- so we can't afford to waste time on taking action on our priorities, either.

Now is the time to activate your membership. When you do, your gift will automatically DOUBLE its impact to Heritage from now until August 16th!

All the best,

Kay C. James
President

P.S. Heritage's priorities are crystal clear, as is the need for your support to accomplish them. Please click this secure link to make your most generous matching challenge gift today: secured.heritage.org/board-challenge

Follow us on Twitter View this as website BY JAMIE MCINTYRE ADVERTISEMENT FROM 'CATCH AND RELEASE' TO 'DETAIN AND DEPORT': After months of hard-nosed negotiation behind closed doors in the Senate, the text of a compromise $118 billion national security supplemental budget bill, which includes major concessions from the Democrats on border security and desperately needed aid for Ukraine, was released last night. Senators now have two days to read and digest it before a Wednesday vote. Sen. James Lankford (R-OK), the lead GOP negotiator, said the bill contains all the most vital reforms Republicans have demanded and called it a "once-in-a-generation opportunity to close our open border." "The bill provides funding to build the wall, increase technology at the border, and add more detention beds, more agents, and more deportation flights. The border security bil
