Massive Win in Texas!

Friends,

President Donald Trump held a signing ceremony for the United States-Mexico-Canada Trade Agreement (USMCA) on the South Lawn of the White House Wednesday morning.

Securing passage of the USMCA has been a top priority of the Trump Administration and Congressional Republicans for the last year.

I applaud him on this massive win for our economy. You can read my full statement below.

Sincerely,

Congressman Gooden issued the following statement:

"Today, President Trump delivered on his ambitious campaign promise to replace the outdated North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) with a deal that actually works for the American people. This is a tremendous victory that will bring more jobs, better wages, and a brighter future for the American economy.

"For far too long, the farmers and ranchers of Texas have been shut out of international markets by weak trade agreements. Those days are over. As a result of this new deal, agriculture exports are expected to increase by $2.2 billion.

"I'm proud to have voted in favor of this landmark trade agreement and look forward to working with President Trump to continue growing our economy and fighting for American workers."

The 30-second spot by Mayors Against Illegal Guns will air in the Washington area during the game between the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers. The ad calls on lawmakers to pass rules requiring background checks on guns. It is narrated by children, with “America the Beautiful” playing in the background. It includes decades-old footage of National Rifle Association Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre saying the gun lobby group approves of the checks. LaPierre recently testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee that the NRA no longer supports background checks for all gun sales. A Bloomsberg spokesman would say only that the ad cost in the six-figure range....
