Baker's decision to close gun shops in Massachusetts.     LEGAL & LEGISLATION Florida Alert! Florida Threatened with Lawsuit over Nikki Fried's Cancellation of CW Applications Nikki Fried, Florida's anti-gun Commissioner of Agriculture clearly violated Florida law and pretended to have authority she is specifically denied by statute [f.s.790.06(15)].  She knew it. She was even formally asked  to stop it by Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody.    LEGAL & LEGISLATION Governor's New Order Allows Partial Operation of Gun Stores & Shooting Ranges Late yesterday, facing mounting pressure to re-open New Mexico businesses and litigation filed by NRA-ILA, the New Mexico Shooting Sports Association and other pro-Second Amendment organizations, Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham extended her emergency executive stay-at-home order until Friday, May 15.  However, she amended the order to allow gun stores and shooting ranges to operate by appointment-only, effective Friday, May 1.   LEGAL & LEGISLATION Jackson Mayor's Unconstitutional and Unlawful Ban on Open Carry Expires Without Extension or Renewal Jackson Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba held a press conference Thursday afternoon to announce that his unconstitutional and unlawful order prohibiting open carry within city limits would no longer be in effect after midnight, and would apparently remain expired as of Friday, May 1.   REUTERS Canada Set to Ban 11 Categories of Assault Rifles, Other Weapons - Source Canada is set to announce it is banning 11 categories of assault rifles and other weapons, including those that have been used in mass shootings, a security source said on Thursday.   THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER Biden Set to Head most Anti-Gun Ticket Ever The leading firearms industry trade group is warning that likely Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden, a gun ban advocate, is eyeing running mates who favor stricter gun control, likely making the ticket the most anti-gun ever and one that will seek to confiscate weapons.   Y'ALL POLITICS Attorney General Fitch Files Amicus Curiae Against Jackson Open Carry Ban Attorney General Lynn Fitch filed an amicus curiae, or friend of the court brief, in federal court today, reaffirming our constitutional right to bear arms, supporting our State laws that protect that right, and seeking to overturn Jackson's unlawful order.
