Kansas: Committee Passes Gun Safety Education Bill
Today, the House Committee passed a Substitute for House Bill 2089 to empower the state Board of Education to make gun safety education available to K-12 students. It will now go to the House floor for further consideration.

New Mexico: Anti-Trapping Measure Passes Senate, Will Be Heard in House Committee on Saturday!
Earlier this week, the New Mexico Senate passed Senate Bill 32, a measure to ban the use of traps or snares on public lands, on a 26-13 vote.

Virginia: Gov. Northam Signs Concealed Carry Training Bill, Effective Immediately
Today, Governor Ralph Northam signed House Bill 2310. The measure allows individuals who completed online firearms training prior to January 1st, 2021, but were prohibited from appearing in person at their circuit court clerk's office due to COVID restrictions, to apply for a concealed handgun permit through April 30th, 2021.

New Jersey: Bill Successfully Amended in Committee
On Thursday, the Senate Law & Public Safety Committee amended and passed S.568 on a unanimous vote of 6-0.  As reported earlier this week, the bill requires law enforcement to be notified of mental health expungements for firearms permit applicants.

Vermont: Pair of Anti-Gun Bills Meet Crossover Deadline
Legislators in both chambers pushed a couple of anti-gun bills across the half-way marker in order to meet their self-imposed "crossover" deadline Friday.  Typically, legislation needs to clear this hurdle if it is going to be viable during this year's legislative session.  Now, both bills advance as politicians in Montpelier continue to push gun control online, in the middle of a pandemic.  The Statehouse remains closed.

On March 10th, the House State and Local Government Committee voted 9-5 to issue a favorable report to House Bill 89 to amend Ohio's "duty to inform" law. It will now go to the House floor for further consideration.
